  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the halfshaft.
  4.  
  5. If replacing the inboard CV-joint boot, perform the following procedure:
    1. Place the halfshaft in a suitable holding fixture where it will remain in position during disassembly.
    2.  
    3. Remove the boot bands. If the boot bands are the welded type, they must be cut to be removed. After removing the bands, push the CV-joint boot away from the end of the halfshaft to gain access to the CV-joint.
    4.  
    5. Remove the inboard CV-joint. Mark the components during disassembly to ensure proper positioning during reassembly.
    6.  
    7. Remove the CV-joint boot.
    8.  
    9. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Check the CV-joint components for wear prior to installation and replace as necessary.
    10.  
    11. Thoroughly pack the inboard CV-joint and boot with molybdenum disulfide grease. Always install new boot bands.

  7. If replacing the outboard CV-joint boot, perform the following procedure:
    1. Place the halfshaft in a suitable holding fixture where it will remain in position during disassembly.
    2.  
    3. Remove the inboard CV-joint and boot. Do not try to remove or disassemble the outboard CV-joint.
    4.  
    5. Remove the boot bands and the outboard CV-joint boot.
    6.  
    7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Thoroughly pack the outboard CV-joint boot with molybdenum disulfide grease. Always install new boot bands.

  9. Install the halfshaft in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
