  1. Remove the transmission.
  2.  
  3. Remove the flywheel/flex plate attaching bolts and the flywheel.
  4.  
  5. The rear cover plate can be removed (manual transmission only).
  6.  

To install:

All major rotating components including the flex plate/flywheel are individually balance to zero. Engine assembly balancing is not required. Balance weights should not be installed on new flywheels.

  1. Install the rear cover plate, if removed.
  2.  
  3. Position the flywheel on the crankshaft and install the attaching bolts. Tighten the attaching bolts to specification shown in the Torque specification chart using the illustrated sequence (figs. 201 and 202).
