The heater unit is located in the center of the vehicle along the firewall. The heater system is a bi-level system designed to direct warm air through the vents to either the windshield or the floor and cool air through the panel outlet. The air conditioning system is designed to be activated in combination with a separate air conditioning switch installed in the control assembly and the fan speed switch. The system incorporates a compressor, condenser, evaporator, receiver/drier, pressure switch, expansion valve, thermo-switch, refrigerant lines and some models are equipped with an electronic control head assembly versus the standard cable operated control head.

On many of the Civic series models the original equipment Honda air conditioning system is installed at the car dealership. All of the vehicles come pre-wired to accept the installation of this system. This accessory kit contains all of the needed components to install the air conditioning system, this allows cars originally sold without air conditioning, in some cases, to be retrofitted with the system.
