REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Dual Point Fuel Injection (DP-FI)

See Figure 1

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Relieve the fuel pressure.
  4.
  5. Remove the air intake chamber.
  6.
  7. Disengage the electrical connector from the fuel injector.
  8.
  9. Loosen the screws and remove the injector from the throttle body. Place a rag or shop towel over the throttle body after removal.
  10.
  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Use new O-rings and coat them with engine oil prior to installation. After the injector is inserted, make sure it turns smoothly approximately 30°.
  12.
  13. Before installing the air intake chamber, connect the negative battery cable and turn the ignition switch ON for approximately two seconds. Repeat 2-3 times and check for fuel leaks.

  1. Remove the injectors from the intake manifold.
  2.

To install:
  1. Slide new cushion rings onto the injectors.
  2.
  3. Coat new O-rings with clean engine oil and install them on the injectors.
  4.
  5. Insert the injectors into the fuel pipe first.

  7. Coat new seal rings with clean engine oil and press them into the intake manifold.
  8.
  9. Install the injectors and fuel pipe assembly in the intake manifold.
  10.

To prevent damage to the O-rings, install the injectors in the fuel pipe first, then install them in the intake manifold.

  1. Align the center line marking on the fuel injector with the mark on the fuel pipe.
  2.
  3. Install and tighten the fuel pipe retainer nuts to 9 ft. lbs (12 Nm).
  4.
  5. Connect the fuel line to the fuel pipe, then the vacuum hose and fuel return line to the pressure regulator.
