Removal & Installation



2.0L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Front splash shield
     
    Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO 2 S) connector
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Torque converter cover, if equipped with an automatic transaxle
     
    Oil pan
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install the oil pan.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the bolts in sequence to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    Torque converter cover, if removed
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Subframe center beam, if removed
     
    HO 2 S connector
     
    Front splash shield
     
    Negative battery cable

2.4L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Subframe. See engine Removal and Installation.
     
    With MT, the stiffener
     
    Oil pan bolts
     
    Oil pan. A gasket cutter will be needed.
     

  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the bolts, in sequence, in 2 or 3 steps, to 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
