  2.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and clear the DTC(s) by follow the prompts on the HDS screen.
  4.
  5. Turn the ignition switch OFF .
  6.
  7. Disconnect the scan tool from the DLC.
  8.

Service Check Signal Circuit Method
  1. Short the SCS circuit to body ground using the HDS or equivalent scan tool.

  2.
  3. Press the brake pedal.
  4.
  5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II) while continuing to press the brake pedal.

  10.
  11. After the ABS indicator light goes off, release the brake pedal.
  12.
  13. The DTC(s) cannot be cleared unless:

The vehicle speed is 6 mph or less

The SCS circuit is shorted to body ground before the ignition switch is turned ON (II)

The brake pedal is pressed before the ignition switch is turned ON (II)

  14.
  15. After several seconds, the ABS indicator blinks two times and the DTC is cleared. If the indicator does not blink twice, repeat the above procedure. If the ABS indicator continues to stay on, check the DTC as a problem was found during ignition diagnosis before shifting to DTC cleaning mode.
  16.
  17. Turn the ignition switch OFF .
  18.
  19. Disconnect the scan tool from the DLC.

How To Retrieve DTCs

NOTE
You will need a suitable scan tool to retrieve ABS DTC-s.

Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) can be retrieved by one of two methods:

Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) Method

Service Check Signal Circuit Method

    NOTE
If the brake pedal is depressed with you turn the ignition switch ON (II), the diagnostic system shifts to the DTC clearing mode.

  4.
  5. Turn the ignition switch ON (II) without pressing the brake pedal.
  6.
  7. The blinking frequency designates the DTC. DTC(s) are shown by a series of long and short blinks. One long blink equals ten short blinks. Add the long and short blinks together to determine the DTC.
  8.
  9. If the DTC is not memorized, the ABS indicator will go off for 3.6 seconds, and then come back on.
  10.
  11. The system will not show the DTC(s) unless:

The brake pedal is not pressed

The ignition switch is turned ON (II)

The SCS circuit is shorted to body ground before the ignition switch is turned ON (II).
