Trouble Code: P1168

HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Label Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime over 2 minutes at idle speed, and the PCM detected the front HO2S signal remained at less than the low threshold limit for too long a period of time during the HO2S Monitor test period.

Possible Causes:



HO2S signal circuit is open or it is shorted to ground
 
HO2S is damaged or has failed (it may be contaminated)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1169

HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Label Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running for 2 minutes, and the PCM detected the front HO2S signal remained at more than the high threshold limit for too long a period of time during the HO2S Monitor test period.

Possible Causes:



HO2S signal circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
 
HO2S is damaged or has failed (it may be contaminated)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1259

VTEC System Malfunction (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop, then accelerated in 1st gear to over 6000 rpm for 2 seconds, and the PCM detected a fault in the VTEC solenoid or the VTEC switch.

Possible Causes:



VTEC solenoid is damaged or has failed
 
VTEC switch is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1361

Top Dead Center Sensor 1 Circuit Intermittent Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running, and the PCM detected an unexpected or intermittent interruption of the Top Dead Center 1 (TDC1) sensor signal.

Possible Causes:



TDC1 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
TDC1 signal circuit is shorted to VREF or system power
 
TDC1 pickup assembly or its pulse rotor is damaged
 
TDC1 is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1362

Top Dead Center Sensor 1 No Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking or running, and the PCM did not receive any signals from the Top Dead Center 1 (TDC1) sensor during the CCM test. Note: The engine will start and run without the TDC sensor 1 signal.

Possible Causes:



TDC1 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
TDC1 pickup assembly or its pulse rotor is damaged
 
TDC1 is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1366

Top Dead Center Sensor 2 Circuit Intermittent Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running and the PCM detected an unexpected or intermittent interruption of the Top Dead Center Sensor 2 (TDC2) signal.

Possible Causes:



TDC2 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
TDC2 signal circuit is shorted to VREF or system power
 
TDC2 pickup assembly or its pulse rotor is damaged

Trouble Code: P1367

Top Dead Sensor 2 No Signals

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking or running, and the PCM did not detect any signals from the Top Dead Center Sensor 2 (TDC2) during the CCM test. Note: The engine will start and run without the TDC sensor 2 signal.

Possible Causes:



TDC2 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
TDC2 pickup assembly or its pulse rotor is damaged
 
TDC2 is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1456

EVAP System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank Area)

Trouble Code Conditions: Cold startup completed (IAT sensor signal from 32-86ºF at engine startup), vehicle driven at over 5 mph for over 2 minutes, then with ECT sensor signal more than 154ºF and the EVAP Control and Vent solenoids enabled, the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure was incorrect due to a leak in the fuel tank area during the Leak Test.

Possible Causes:



Fuel tank cap damaged, loose or the wrong part number
 
Fuel tank leaks at the fuel fill pipe or at the fuel tank seals
 
Fuel vapor control valve is damaged or has failed
 
Fuel tank vapor recirculation valve or vapor tube is damaged
 
Fuel tank vapor control vent tube is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1457

EVAP System Leak Detected (Canister Area)

Trouble Code Conditions: Cold startup completed (IAT sensor signal from 32-86ºF at engine startup), vehicle driven at over 5 mph for over 2 minutes, then with ECT sensor signal more than 154ºF and the EVAP Control and Vent solenoids enabled, the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure was incorrect due to a leak in the canister area during the Leak Test.

Thermostat Range/Performance Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0335, P0336, P0401, P0500, P0505, P1106, P1107, P1108, P1128, P1129, P1253, P1257, P1258, P1259, P1359, P1399, P1491, P1498 and P1519 not set, vehicle driven for over 10 minutes, and the PCM detected the ECT signal did not reach the correct closed loop value. Note: This trouble code can set if the engine remains under hot idle conditions with the hood open for an extended period of time.

Possible Causes:



ECT sensor is out of calibration
 
Check for low coolant level or incorrect coolant mixture
 
Cooling system component failure (thermostat is stuck open)
 

Trouble Code: P1491

EGR Valve Lift Sensor Insufficient Flow Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Vehicle driven in closed loop at 1700-2500 rpm for over 10 minutes, and the PCM detected the EGR valve lift sensor (EGRV) signal indicated insufficient EGR flow during the EGR Monitor test.

Possible Causes:



EGR valve lift sensor is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
EGR control solenoid circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
EGR control solenoid valve is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1498

EGR Valve Lift Sensor High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected the EGR Valve Lift sensor signal was more than an allowable range stored in memory.

Possible Causes:



EGR valve lift sensor circuit is open or shorted to power
 
EGR valve lift sensor is shorted to VREF or system power (B+)
 
EGR valve lift sensor is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

Idle Air Control System Low RPM

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at idle speed while in closed loop, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed was more than 100 rpm below the Target idle speed during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



Air inlet dirty, restricted or the IAC valve is stuck partially closed
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
The throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1509

Idle Air Control System High RPM

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at idle speed while in closed loop, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed was more than 100 rpm above the Target idle speed during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



Air inlet dirty, restricted or the IAC valve is stuck partially closed
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
The throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 
PCM has failed

Idle Air Control Valve Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve control circuit.

Possible Causes:

IAC valve control circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
 
IAC valve power circuit is open or shorted to ground

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at hot idle speed, and the PCM detected the Master Power Vacuum Sensor signal remained in a low state.

Master power vacuum sensor signal circuit shorted to ground
