Vehicle Identification Number

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) can be found in three locations. It is stamped into the body on the top, center portion of the firewall, on a stamped plate attached to the left front top of the dashboard, and on a label located on the driver-s door jam near the door latch. The VIN on the dashboard is the easiest to see, as it is close to the windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle and visible by looking through the windshield near the tip of the left side wiper blade.

The 17-character label contains the following information (2006 vehicle as example):

Digits 1, 2 and 3 (a): Manufacturer, Make and Type of Vehicle - 5FN: Honda MGF., of Alabama, LLC Honda Multipurpose passenger vehicle, 5FP: Honda MGF., of Alabama, LLC Honda Light duty truck
Digits 4, 5 and 6 (b): Line, Body and Engine Type - RL3: Odyssey/J35A6 (LX, EX), J35A7 (EX-L, EX-L Touring), RL4: Odyssey/J35A6 (VAN)
Digit 7 (c): Body Type and Transmission Type - 8: 5-door/5-speed automatic
Digit 8 (d): Vehicle Grade (Series) - 2: LX, 3: VAN, EX, 6: EX-L, 7: EX-L Rear Entertainment and Navigation System, 8: EX-L Touring
Digit 9 (e): Check digit
Digit 10 (f): Vehicle model year - ex. 6: 2006
Digit 11 (g): Factory Code - B: Lincoln Factory in Alabama
Digits 12 through 17 (h): Serial Number
