Removal & Installation



2003-04 Models
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the intake manifold cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the ECT sensor 2P connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the ECT sensor (A).
  8.  
  9. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (B). Tighten the sensor to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).

2005 Models
Sensor 1
  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2.  
  3. Remove intake manifold cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor 1 connector (A).
  6.  
  7. Remove ECT sensor 1 (B).
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C). Tighten to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Attach the ECT sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open.

Sensor 2
  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2.  
  3. Remove intake manifold cover.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor 2 connector (A).
  6.  
  7. Remove ECT sensor 2 (B).
  8.  

To install:

  1. Install the sensor in the reverse order of removal with a new O-ring (C). Tighten to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Attach the ECT sensor connector.
  4.  
  5. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open.
