Trouble Code: P0505

Idle Speed Control System

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P1519 not set, engine running at hot idle speed, and the PCM detected the Actual and Target idle speed values were too far apart.

Possible Causes:



IAC valve circuit open, shorted to ground or to power (B+)
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
Fast idle thermo valve is damaged or has failed (some models)
 
Throttle body is dirty or full of sludge
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0560

PCM Backup Circuit Low Voltage

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected a low voltage condition on the PCM Backup circuit. Note: This circuit is connected to the Backup/Radio 7.5 amp fuse.

Possible Causes:



PCM backup circuit is open
 
PCM backup circuit is shorted to ground
 
PCM backup circuit has high resistance
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1106

BARO Pressure Sensor Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in 4th gear, then accelerated to WOT, and the PCM detected the BARO sensor input did not change sufficiently within a specified period of time.

Possible Causes:



BARO sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
BARO sensor ground circuit has high resistance
 
BARO sensor is damaged or it may be out of calibration
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1107

BARO Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected the BARO sensor signal was less than a value in stored in backup memory.

Possible Causes:



BARO sensor signal circuit is shorted to signal ground
 
BARO sensor signal circuit is shorted to chassis ground
 
BARO sensor is damaged (it may be shorted internally)
 
BARO sensor signal circuit to the TCM is open or grounded
 
TCM or the PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1108

BARO Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected the BARO sensor signal was more than a value in stored in backup memory.

Possible Causes:



BARO sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF
 
BARO sensor signal circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
 
BARO sensor is damaged (it may be open internally)
 
BARO sensor signal circuit to the TCM is shorted to power
 
TCM or the PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1121

TP Sensor Input Lower Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running, and the PCM detected the TP sensor input was lower than an expected value with the throttle wide open (<13.7%). Note: This trouble code sets if this circuit fails the rationality test.

Possible Causes:



Throttle plate is dirty, clogged, or it is binding
 
TP sensor circuit open or shorted to ground between the PCM and the TCM
 
TP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1122

TP Sensor Input Higher Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running, and the PCM detected that the TP sensor input higher than the expected value with the throttle closed (>16.9%). Note: This trouble code sets if this circuit fails the rationality test.

Possible Causes:



Throttle plate is dirty, clogged, or it is binding
 
TP sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or it is open between the PCM and the TCM
 
TP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1128

MAP Sensor Value Less Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at cruise speed, then back to idle speed, and the PCM detected a MAP sensor signal lower than the expected value. Note: This trouble code sets if this circuit fails the rationality test.

Possible Causes:



MAP sensor signal circuit shorted to ground (intermittent fault)
 
MAP sensor vacuum line bent or plugged at intake manifold
 
MAP sensor is damaged or it is out-of-calibration
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1129

MAP Sensor Value Higher Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at cruise speed, then back to idle speed, and the PCM detected a MAP sensor signal higher than the expected value. Note: This trouble code sets if this circuit fails the rationality test.

Possible Causes:



MAP sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF (intermittent fault)
 
MAP sensor ground circuit has high resistance
 
MAP sensor is damaged or it is out-of-calibration
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1149

HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Vehicle driven at 55 mph in closed loop at a steady throttle in Drive, then back to idle speed, and the PCM detected the front HO2S response time was slow between 300-600 mv, or it detected the rich to lean or lean to rich switch rate was too slow.

Possible Causes:



Exhaust leak present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
O2S element fuel contamination
 
O2S element has deteriorated
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1163

Lean A/F Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Slow Response

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine at idle speed, then accelerated to 55 mph for 5 seconds, then back to idle speed for 5 seconds, and the PCM detected the LAF sensor response time was too slow, or that the R-L or L-R switch rate was too slow during the HO2S Monitor test period.

Possible Causes:



LAF sensor may be contaminated or may have failed
 
Fuel supply system is too lean (exhaust leaks in front of LAF)
 
Fuel supply system is too rich (fuel filter is clogged or dirty)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1164

Lean A/F Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Range/Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine speed over 1500 rpm in 4th gear in closed loop, then a quick acceleration to WOT, followed by a 5 second deceleration period with the throttle closed, and the PCM detected a problem in the LAF sensor response time, or that the rich-to lean or lean-to rich switch rate was too slow during the test.

Possible Causes:



LAF sensor may be contaminated or may have failed
 
Fuel supply system is too lean (exhaust leaks in front of LAF)
 
Fuel supply system is too rich (fuel filter is clogged or dirty)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1165

Lean A/F-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Range/Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Vehicle driven at an engine speed of 1500-2500 rpm at 45-60 mph for 2-3 minutes, followed by a deceleration period of 3 seconds back to idle speed with the throttle closed, and the PCM detected the LAF sensor signal was too high or too low during the HO2S Monitor test.

Possible Causes:



LAF signal circuit is open or grounded (intermittent fault)
 
LAF signal circuit is shorted to heater power (intermittent)
 
LAF may be contaminated or may have failed
 
PCM has failed

VTEC System Malfunction (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop, then accelerated in 1st gear to over 6000 rpm for 2 seconds, and the PCM detected a fault in the VTEC solenoid or the VTEC switch.

Possible Causes:



VTEC solenoid is damaged or has failed
 
VTEC switch is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

Electrical Load Detector Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at hot idle speed or at cruise speed, headlights "on", and the PCM detected the ELD signal was less than a stored value.

Possible Causes:



ELD sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
ELD sensor power circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
ELD sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1298

Electrical Load Detector Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at hot idle speed or at cruise speed, headlights "on", and the PCM detected the ELD signal was more than a stored value.

Possible Causes:



ELD sensor signal circuit is shorted to VREF
 
ELD sensor signal circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
 
ELD sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

Knock Sensor Power Source Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected a low input on the Knock Sensor Power Source circuit during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



Knock sensor power source circuit is open
 
Knock sensor power source circuit is shorted to ground
 
PCM has failed

Top Dead Center Sensor 1 Circuit Intermittent Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running, and the PCM detected an unexpected or intermittent interruption of the Top Dead Center 1 (TDC1) sensor signal.

Possible Causes:



TDC1 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
TDC1 signal circuit is shorted to VREF or system power
 
TDC1 pickup assembly or its pulse rotor is damaged
 
TDC1 is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1362

Top Dead Center Sensor 1 No Signal

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking or running, and the PCM did not receive any signals from the Top Dead Center 1 (TDC1) sensor during the CCM test. Note: The engine will start and run without the TDC sensor 1 signal.

Possible Causes:



TDC1 signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
TDC1 pickup assembly or its pulse rotor is damaged
 
TDC1 is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1456

EVAP System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank Area)

Trouble Code Conditions: Cold startup completed (IAT sensor signal from 32-86ºF at engine startup), vehicle driven at over 5 mph for over 2 minutes, then with ECT sensor signal more than 154ºF and the EVAP Control and Vent solenoids enabled, the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure was incorrect due to a leak in the fuel tank area during the Leak Test.

Possible Causes:



Fuel tank cap damaged, loose or the wrong part number
 
Fuel tank leaks at the fuel fill pipe or at the fuel tank seals
 
Fuel vapor control valve is damaged or has failed
 
Fuel tank vapor recirculation valve or vapor tube is damaged
 
Fuel tank vapor control vent tube is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1457

EVAP System Leak Detected (Canister Area)

Trouble Code Conditions: Cold startup completed (IAT sensor signal from 32-86ºF at engine startup), vehicle driven at over 5 mph for over 2 minutes, then with ECT sensor signal more than 154ºF and the EVAP Control and Vent solenoids enabled, the PCM detected the fuel tank pressure was incorrect due to a leak in the canister area during the Leak Test.

EGR Valve Lift Sensor Insufficient Flow Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Vehicle driven in closed loop at 1700-2500 rpm for over 10 minutes, and the PCM detected the EGR valve lift sensor (EGRV) signal indicated insufficient EGR flow during the EGR Monitor test.

Possible Causes:



EGR valve lift sensor is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
EGR control solenoid circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
EGR control solenoid valve is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1498

EGR Valve Lift Sensor High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected the EGR Valve Lift sensor signal was more than an allowable range in memory.

Possible Causes:



EGR valve lift sensor circuit is open or shorted to power
 
EGR valve lift sensor is shorted to VREF or system power (B+)
 
EGR valve lift sensor is stuck, damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1508

Idle Air Control System Low RPM

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at idle speed while in closed loop, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed was more than 100 rpm below the Target idle speed during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



Air inlet dirty, restricted or the IAC valve is stuck partially closed
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
The throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1509

Idle Air Control System High RPM

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at idle speed while in closed loop, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed was more than 100 rpm above the Target idle speed during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



Air inlet dirty, restricted or the IAC valve is stuck partially closed
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
The throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P1519

Idle Air Control Valve Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running, and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve control circuit.

Possible Causes:



IAC valve control circuit is open or shorted to power
 
IAC valve control circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
 
IAC valve power circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
PCM is damaged
 

Trouble Code: P1607

PCM Internal Circuit 'A' Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on, and the PCM detected an Internal Fault 'A' condition. Note: This trouble code indicates an internal failure in the PCM. The OEM repair procedure recommends replacing the original PCM with a "known good" PCM and then verify the code does not reset.
