Accord
2001-02 Coupe

NOTE
This procedure requires the use of Trim Pad Remover, Snap-on A 177, or equivalent, commercially available trim pad removal tool.

  1. Remove the mirror mount cover, as follows:
    1. Lower the door glass fully.
    2.  
    3. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover (A) by hand in the sequence shown.

  3. Remove the inner handle (A), being careful not to scratch the door panel, as follows:
    1. Pry out the cap (B), and remove the screw.
    2.  
    3. Pull the inner handle forward and out half-way.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the inner handle rod (C) and power door lock switch connector (D).

  5. Remove the screw, and release the clips (A, B) that hold the door panel (C) with a commercially available trim pad remover (D), then remove the door panel by pulling it upward. Disconnect the power window switch connectors (E), and the power mirror switch connector (F) (driver's side), security indicator connector (G) (driver's side for some models), and courtesy light bulb socket (H). Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it.

  7. Detach the electrical connector, then remove the retainers and the door lock actuator
  8.  

To install:

  1. Attach the electrical connector and install the door lock actuator.
  2.  
  3. Install the door panel in the reverse order of removal; make sure the connectors and the courtesy light bulb socket are plugged in properly, and the inner handle rod is connected properly.
  4.  

2001-02 Models
  1. Remove the inner handle (A), as follows:
    1. Pry out the cap (B), and remove the screw.
    2.  
    3. Pull the inner handle forward and out half-way.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the inner handle rod (C) and power door lock switch connector (D) (for some models).

  3. Remove the two screws, then remove the door lock switch.

2001-02 Sedan
  1. This procedure requires the use of Trim Pad Remover, Snap-on A 177 or equivalent, commercially available trim panel removal tool.

  3. Remove the mirror mount cover, as follows:
    1. Lower the door glass fully.
    2.  
    3. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover (A) by hand in the sequence shown.

  5. If equipped with manual windows, remove the regulator handle (A) by pulling the clip (B) out with a wire hook (C).

  7. Remove the inner handle (A), as follows:
    1. Pry out the cap (B), and remove the screw.

  9. If equipped with power windows: Remove the pull pocket panel (A), as follows:
    1. Pry out the cap (B), and remove the screw
    2.  
    3. Release the hooks (C), disconnect the power window switch connector (D), and the power mirror switch connector (E), driver's side only.

  11. If equipped with manual windows: Remove the pull pocket (A), as follows:
    1. Pry out the cap (B), and remove the screw
    2.  
    3. Lift out the pull pocket

  13. Release the clips (A, B) that hold the door panel (C) with a commercially available trim pad remover (D), then remove the door panel by pulling it upward. Disconnect the security indicator connector (E)(driver's) and courtesy light bulb socket (F).

  15. Remove the door panel with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it.

To install:

    1. Make sure the connectors and the courtesy light bulb socket are plugged in properly, and the rod is connected properly.

    3. If applicable, install the regulator handle so it points forward and up at a 45 degree angle with the glass fully closed.

2003-06 Coupe

NOTE
This procedure requires the use of KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 and Trim pad remover, Snap-on A 177A or equivalent, commercially available, or equivalent trim tools. Make sure to use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Lower the glass fully.
  2.  
  3. Using a trim tool, pry out on the lower portion of the cover (A) to release the hooks (B, C), then remove the cover and the screws.

  5. Remove the power window switch panel (A), as follows:
    1. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape through the hole under the armrest, and push up the bottom of the power window switch (B) to release the pane
    2.  
    3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hook (C) and clips (D)
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (E) (driver's) and the power window switch connector (F)
    6.

  7. Remove the screws (G) from under the armrest.

    1. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover (A) by hand in the sequence shown.

  11. Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it, as follows:
    1. Start at the bottom edge of the door panel, release the clips that are just above the marks (B) on the edge of the panel with a commercially available trim pad remover
    2.  
    3. Detach the upper clips.
    4.  
    5. Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward and over the lock knob (C).
      NOTE
      The inner handle cable (D) and the courtesy light bulb socket (E) are connected to the door panel. Do not pull the door panel up too far, or the inner handle cable will be damaged.

  13. While holding the door panel (A) away from the door, disconnect the inner handle cable (B) and courtesy light bulb socket (C), and detach the harness clip (D) from the panel, then remove the panel.

  15. If necessary, remove the door glass inner weatherstrip (A) from the door panel (B) by pulling it down.

  17. Disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the door lock actuator.

To install:

  1. Install the door lock actuator and attach the electrical connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    1. Check if the clip is damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace it with new one.
    2.  
    3. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the cable and the bulb socket are connected properly.
    4.  
    5. Make sure the window and power door lock operate properly.
    6.  
    7. When reinstalling the door panel, make sure the plastic cover is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
    8.  
    9. Check for water leaks.
      NOTE
      Reset the power window control unit using one of the two following procedures.

  5. Resetting the power window control unit with an HDS:
    1. Connect the Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) to the vehicle's DLC.
    2.  
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), then enter the vehicle's VIN and mileage at the prompts.
    4.  
    5. Select Body Electrical from the System Selection menu.
    6.  
    7. From the Body Electrical System Select menu, select Power Windows.
    8.  
    9. From the Mode menu, select Adjustments.
    10.  
    11. From the Adjustment menu, select Window P Reset.
    12.  
    13. Follow the prompts on the screen.
    14.  
    15. Confirm that the power window master switch is reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.
    16.

  7. Resetting the power window control unit without an HDS:
    1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    2.  
    3. Move the driver's window all the way down by using the driver's window DOWN switch.
    4.  
    5. Open the driver's door.
      NOTE
      Steps d.-g. must be done within 5 seconds of each other.

    6.  
    7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    8.  
    9. Push and hold the driver's window DOWN switch.
    10.  
    11. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
    12.  
    13. Release the driver's window DOWN switch.
    14.  
    15. Repeat steps d.-g. three more times.
    16.  
    17. Wait 1 second.
    18.  
    19. Confirm that AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN do not work. If AUTO UP and DOWN work, go back to step a.
    20.  
    21. Move the driver's window all the way down by holding the driver's window DOWN switch to the AUTO DOWN position.
    22.  
    23. Pull up and hold the driver's window UP switch to the AUTO UP position until the window reaches the fully closed position, then continue to hold the switch for 1 second.
    24.  
    25. Confirm that the power window master switch is reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.
    26.  
    27. If the window still does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure several times, paying close attention to the 5 second time limit between steps.
    28.

  9. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio and the navigation system, then enter the audio presets
  10.  

  1. Remove the power window switch panel (A), as follows:
    1. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape through the hole under the armrest, and push up the bottom of the power window switch (B) to release the pane
    2.  
    3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hook (C) and clips (D)
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (E) (driver's) and the power window switch connector (F)

2003-06 Sedan

NOTE
This procedure requires the use of KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 and Trim pad remover, Snap-on A 177A or equivalent, commercially available, or equivalent trim tools. Make sure to use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.

  1. Lower the glass fully.
  2.  
  3. Using a trim tool, pry out on the rear portion of the cover (A) to release the hooks (B, C), then remove the cover and the screws securing the inner handle (D).

  5. Remove the power window switch panel (A), as follows:
    1. Pry up on the rear edge of the switch panel with a trim tool to release the rear clip
    2.  
    3. Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hooks (B) and front clip.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (C) (driver's) and the power window switch connector (D)

  7. Remove the screw from under the pull pocket cap (A).
  8.  
  9. Remove the mirror mount cover, as follows:
    1. Carefully pry out the mirror mount cover (A) by hand in the sequence shown.

  11. Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it, as follows:
    1. Start at the bottom edge of the door panel, release the clips that are just above the marks (B) on the edge of the panel with a commercially available trim pad remover.

    3. Detach the upper clips.
    4.  
    5. Starting at the rear, pull the door panel upward and over the lock knob (C).
      NOTE
      The inner handle cable (D) and the courtesy light bulb socket (E) are connected to the door panel. Do not pull the door panel up too far, or the inner handle cable will be damaged

  13. While holding the door panel (A) away from the door, disconnect the inner handle cable (B), and if equipped, courtesy light bulb socket (C), and detach the harness clip (D), then remove the panel. If necessary, remove the inner handle (E) by releasing the hooks (F, G).

  15. If necessary, remove the door glass inner weatherstrip (A) from the door panel (B) by pulling it down.

  17. Disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the door lock actuator.

To install:

  1. Install the door lock actuator and attach the electrical connector.

    25. Confirm that the power window master switch is reset by using the driver's window AUTO UP and DOWN function.

    27. If the window still does not work in AUTO, repeat the procedure several times, paying close attention to the 5 second time limit between steps.
