Lower Control Arm

Removal & Installation



Accord
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the rear tires.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower arm mounting nut and mounting bolt from the knuckle side.
  6.  
  7. Remove the flange bolt. Remove the lower arm from the vehicle.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Position the lower arm on the vehicle. Be sure to use new retaining bolts and nuts.
  2.  
  3. Install all the suspension components and lightly tighten the bolts and nuts. Position a jack under the trailing arm and raise the suspension to load it with the vehicles weight, before fully tightening the bolts and nuts.
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Check and adjust the wheel alignment, as required.
  8.  

S2000
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the rear tires.
  4.  
  5. Remove the flange nut while holding the joint pin. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the lower arm.
  6.  
  7. Remove the flange bolt and disconnect the damper from the lower arm. Remove the cotter pin from the lower arm ball joint. Remove the castle nut.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lower arm ball joint from the knuckle, using a ball joint removal tool.
  10.  
  11. Remove the flange bolt, self locking nut, cam plate and adjusting nut. Remove the lower arm from the vehicle.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Position the lower arm on the vehicle. Be sure to use new retaining bolts and nuts.
  2.  
  3. Install all the suspension components and lightly tighten the bolts and nuts. Position a jack under the trailing arm and raise the suspension to load it with the vehicles weight, before fully tightening the bolts and nuts.
  4.  
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6.  
  7. Check and adjust the wheel alignment, as required.
