Lower Control Arm

Bushing Replacement



The control arm bushings are serviced with the control arms as an assembly.

Removal & Installation



Lower Arm A
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Support the suspension with a floor jack under lower arm B, at the knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE
    Raise the suspension to remove the arm.



    Wheel
     
    Lower arm mounting bolts and nuts
     
    Lower arm
     

  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Install all fasteners loosely and torque them with the weight of the car on the suspension. Use a new bolt and nut. Tighten the bolt to 69 ft. lbs. (93 Nm) and the nut to 74 ft. lbs. (101 Nm).

Lower Arm B
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Support the control arm with a jack at the knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Wheel
     
    Locknut (A)
     
    Bolt (C)
     
    Bolt (D)
     

  6.  
  7. Gradually lower the arm.
  8.  
  9. Matchmark the adjusting cam.
  10.  
  11. Remove the locknut, adjusting bolt and adjusting cam at the frame.
  12.  
  13. Spring assembly

  15. Installation is the reverse of removal. Install all fasteners loosely and torque them with the weight of the car on the suspension. Use new bolts and nuts.
  16.  
  17. Observe the following torques:

    Adjusting cam nut: 61 ft. lbs. (83 Nm)
     
    Nut A: 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm)
     
    Bolt C: 156 ft. lbs. (211 Nm)
     
    Bolt D: 105 ft. lbs. (142 Nm)
