  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Front wheels
     
    Outer tie rod ends
     
    Steering column flexible coupler
     
    Power steering fluid hoses, if equipped with power steering
     
    Subframe center beam
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Left lower control arm
     
    Stabilizer bar
     
    Steering gear
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Steering gear and torque the bolts to 44-59 ft. lbs. (60-80 Nm)
     
    Stabilizer bar
     
    Left lower control arm
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Subframe center beam
     
    Power steering fluid hoses, if equipped with power steering
     
    Steering column flexible coupler and torque the bolt to 11-14 ft. lbs. (15-19 Nm)
     
    Outer tie rod ends and torque the nuts to 17-25 ft. lbs. (23-34 Nm)
     
    Front wheels
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Fill the power steering system.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  6.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Front wheels
     
    Outer tie rod ends
     
    Steering column flexible coupler
     
    Power steering fluid hoses, if equipped with power steering
     
    Subframe center beam
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Left lower control arm
     
    Stabilizer bar
     
    Steering gear
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Steering gear and torque the bolts to 44-59 ft. lbs. (60-80 Nm)
     
    Stabilizer bar
     
    Left lower control arm
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Subframe center beam
     
    Power steering fluid hoses, if equipped with power steering
     
    Steering column flexible coupler and torque the bolt to 11-14 ft. lbs. (15-19 Nm)
     
    Outer tie rod ends and torque the nuts to 17-25 ft. lbs. (23-34 Nm)
     
    Front wheels
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Fill the power steering system.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  6.  

  1. Disconnect the cover fixing clip on the universal joint indoor driver side, loosen the noise covers.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the universal joint and the gear box mounting bolt and disconnect the universal joint from the gear box.
  4.  
  5. Lift up the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front tires (RH/LH).
  8.  
  9. After removing the split pin, disconnect the tie rod from the knuckle by using the special tool (09568-34000).
  10.  
  11. Drain the power steering fluid.
  12.  
  13. Remove the engine under cover.
  14.  
  15. Remove the front muffler assembly.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the end tube of the pressure hose and the end hose of the return hose from the gear box.
  18.  
  19. Remove the bracket holding the end tubes of the pressure tube and the return tube.
  20.  
  21. Remove the mounting clamp of power steering gear box, and also remove the clamp holding the pressure tube and the return tube.
  22.  
  23. Remove the mounting bolt from the power steering gear box.
  24.  
  25. Pull the power steering gear box assembly toward the right side of the vehicle.
    NOTE
    When removing the gear box, pull it out carefully and slowly so as not to cause damage to the Bellows.

  27. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Steering gear and torque the bolts to 44-59 ft. lbs. (60-80 Nm)

    Left lower control arm
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Subframe center beam
     
    Power steering fluid hoses, if equipped with power steering
     
    Steering column flexible coupler and torque the bolt to 11-14 ft. lbs. (15-19 Nm)
     
    Outer tie rod ends and torque the nuts to 17-25 ft. lbs. (23-34 Nm)
     
    Front wheels
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  2.  
  3. Fill the power steering system.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
