Instrument Panel

Specific to:

Hyundai Entourage 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Record the radio anti-theft code data.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait for at least 3 minutes for the SRS module to deplete its stored energy.

  6.  
  7. Remove the front seat.
  8.  
  9. Tilt the steering column down. Remove the screws and detach the clips from the cluster fascia panel. Disconnect the connector and remove the cluster fascia panel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the screws and detach the clips from the center fascia panel. Disconnect the connector and remove the center fascia panel. Remove the radio retaining screws. Disconnect the connectors and remove the radio.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the damper from the glovebox lid. Remove the glovebox lid from the lift. Disconnect the retaining pins and remove the glovebox assembly.
  14.  
  15. Remove the dash pad side cover, center cover and under cover. Remove the front A-pillar trim.
  16.  
  17. Remove the photo sensor (C). Remove the speaker connector (B).
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the passenger air bag connector (A).
  20.  
  21. Loosen the bolts and nuts from the locations illustrated and remove the instrument panel crash pad (D).

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Make sure the crash pad fits onto the guide pins correctly.
  4.  
  5. Before tightening the bolts, make sure the crash pad wire harnesses are not pinched.
  6.  
  7. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly.
  8.  
  9. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter the radio station presets.

Specific to:

Hyundai Accent 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 3 minutes for the SRS memory to drain.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait for at least 3 minutes for the SRS module to deplete its stored energy.

  4.  
  5. Remove the SRS module and the steering wheel:
    1. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts.
    2.  
    3. The SRS module from the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connector.
    4.  
    5. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut.
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel from the steering column.
    8.  

  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Multi-function switch assembly
     
    Front and rear console assemblies
     
    Lower left side crash pad
     
    Center fascia panel and disconnect the connectors and vacuum connector from the heater control assembly
     
    Heater control assembly and the audio system
     
    Glove box
     
    4 mounting bolts from the passenger air bag mounting bracket, if equipped
     
    Main crash pad assembly
     
    Cables from the heater housing and the thermostatic switch connector from the evaporator housing
     
    Any remaining connectors
     
    Main crash pad/instrument panel assembly

  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Main crash pad/instrument panel assembly
     
    Any remaining connectors
     
    Cables to the heater housing and the thermostatic switch connector to the evaporator housing
     
    4 mounting bolts to the passenger air bag mounting bracket, if equipped
     
    Glove box
     
    Heater control assembly and the audio system
     
    Connectors and vacuum connector to the heater control assembly. Install the center fascia panel.
     
    Lower left side crash pad
     
    Front and rear console assemblies
     

  2.  
  3. Install the SRS module and the steering wheel by installing or connecting the following:
    1. The steering wheel to the steering column.
    2.  
    3. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut and torque to 30-37 ft. lbs. (40-50 Nm).
    4.  
    5. The SRS module to the steering wheel and connect the electrical connector.
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts.
    8.  

  4.  
  5. Install and connect the multi-function switch assembly.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Operate the engine to normal operating temperatures; check the climate control operation and check for vacuum or fluid leaks.
  10.  

Specific to:

Hyundai Elantra 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait for at least 3 minutes for the SRS module to deplete its stored energy.

  4.  
  5. Remove the SRS module and the steering wheel by removing or disconnecting the following:
    1. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts.
    2.  
    3. The SRS module from the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connector.
    4.  
    5. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut.
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel from the steering column.
    8.  

  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Steering column cover screws and the covers
     
    Instrument panel lower cover at the driver-s side
     
    Multi-function switch and disconnect the electrical connector at the steering column
     
    Instrument panel cluster fascia panel
     
    Instrument cluster-to-instrument panel screws, disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the instrument cluster
     
    Side fascia panel and disconnect the mirror control connector
     
    Hood release mounting screws
     
    Rheostat and the upper console cover
     
    Heater control cable
     
    Electrical connectors at the center of the instrument panel and remove the center fascia panel assembly
     
    Console
     
    Radio-to-chassis screws and the radio
     
    Glove box screws and the glove box
     
    Glove box striker screws and the upper glove box cover
     
    Defroster nozzle
     
    Loosen the speedometer drive gear sleeve and disconnect the speedometer cable from the instrument panel
     
    Passenger-s side SRS module connector
     
    Instrument panel-to-chassis bolts
     
    Any remaining electrical connectors
     
    Ventilation ducts from the instrument panel

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Instrument panel
     
    Ventilation ducts to the instrument panel
     
    Instrument panel-to-chassis bolts
     
    Passenger-s side SRS module connector
     
    Speedometer cable to the instrument panel and tighten the speedometer drive gear sleeve
     
    Defroster nozzle
     
    Upper glove box cover and the glove box striker screws
     
    Glove box and the glove box screws
     
    Radio and the radio-to-chassis screws
     
    Console
     
    Electrical connectors and install the center fascia panel assembly
     
    Heater control cable
     
    Rheostat and the upper console cover
     
    Hood release mounting screws
     
    Side fascia panel and connect the mirror control connector
     
    Instrument cluster, connect the electrical connectors and install the instrument cluster-to-instrument panel screws
     
    Instrument panel cluster fascia panel
     
    Multi-function switch and connect the electrical connector
     
    Instrument panel lower cover
     
    Steering column cover and the cover screws
     

  2.  
  3. Install the SRS module and the steering wheel by installing or connecting the following:
    1. The steering wheel to the steering column
    2.  
    3. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut and torque to 30-37 ft. lbs. (40-50 Nm)
    4.  
    5. The SRS module to the steering wheel and connect the electrical connector
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts
    8.  

  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Operate the engine to normal operating temperatures; then, check the climate control operation and check for vacuum and fluid leaks.
  8.  

Specific to:

Hyundai Azera 2006-2008

Hyundai Sonata 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait for at least 3 minutes for the SRS module to deplete its stored energy.

  4.  
  5. Remove the SRS module and the steering wheel by removing or disconnecting the following:
    1. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts.
    2.  
    3. The SRS module from the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connector.
      CAUTION
      Store the SRS module in a safe place with the front facing upward.

    4.  
    5. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut.
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel from the steering column.
    8.  

  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Front and rear console assembly and remove both side covers
     
    Glove box, the center pad cover, the center crash pad, and the cassette assembly
     
    Lower crash pad
     
    Remove the console mounting bracket and the center support bracket
     
    Rear heater ducts from the heater housing
     
    Control assembly and instrument panel

To install:



Control assembly and instrument panel
 
Console mounting bracket and the center support bracket
 
Lower crash pad and both side covers
 
Front and rear console assembly
 

  1. Install the SRS module and the steering wheel by installing or connecting the following:
    1. The steering wheel to the steering column.
    2.  
    3. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut and torque to 30-37 ft. lbs. (40-50 Nm).
    4.  
    5. The SRS module to the steering wheel and connect the electrical connector.
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts.
    8.  

  2.  
  3. Connect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Operate the engine to normal operating temperatures; then, check the climate control operation and check for vacuum and fluid leaks.
  6.  

Specific to:

Hyundai Tiburon 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait for at least 3 minutes for the SRS module to deplete its stored energy.

  4.  
  5. Remove the SRS module and the steering wheel by removing or disconnecting the following:
    1. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts.
    2.  
    3. The SRS module from the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connector.
    4.  
    5. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut.
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel from the steering column.
    8.  

  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Upper console cover
     
    Center fascia panel and disconnect the cigar lighter connector
     
    3 lower instrument panel screws and the lower instrument panel
     
    Radio-to-bracket bolts and the radio
     
    Rheostat switch, the hood release handle and DLC from the lower instrument panel
     
    5 cluster fascia panel-to-instrument panel screws; then, disconnect the heater control cable and the cluster electrical connectors and remove the cluster fascia panel
     
    4 instrument cluster-to-instrument panel screws and the instrument cluster
     
    2 glove box-to-instrument panel bolts and the glove box
     
    4 upper glove box cover-to-instrument panel screws, the 2 glove box striker screws and the upper glove box cover
     
    Upper instrument panel speaker grille
     
    2 upper speaker-to-instrument panel screws
     
    Instrument panel-to-chassis bolts, disconnect the electrical connectors
     
    The instrument panel

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Instrument panel
     
    Electrical connectors and install the instrument panel-to-chassis bolts
     
    2 upper speaker-to-instrument panel screws
     
    Upper instrument panel speaker grille
     
    Upper glove box cover, the 2 glove box striker screws and the 4 upper glove box cover-to-instrument panel screws
     
    Glove box and the 2 glove box-to-instrument panel bolts
     
    Instrument cluster and the 4 instrument cluster-to-instrument panel screws
     
    Cluster fascia panel; then, connect the heater control cable and the cluster electrical connectors and install the 5 cluster fascia panel-to-instrument panel screws
     
    Rheostat switch, the hood release handle and DLC to the lower instrument panel
     
    Radio and the radio-to-bracket bolts
     
    Lower instrument panel and the 3 lower instrument panel screws
     
    Cigar lighter connector and install the center fascia panel
     
    Upper console cover
     

  2.  
  3. Install the SRS module and the steering wheel by installing or connecting the following:
    1. The steering wheel to the steering column.
    2.  
    3. The steering wheel-to-steering column nut and torque to 30-37 ft. lbs. (40-50 Nm).
    4.  
    5. The SRS module to the steering wheel and connect the electrical connector.
    6.  
    7. The steering wheel-to-SRS module nuts.
    8.  

  4.  
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Operate the engine to normal operating temperatures; then, check the climate control operation and check for vacuum and fluid leaks.
