Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Hyundai Entourage 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear wheels and tires.
    WARNING
    Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the rear wheel and tire.

  6.  
  7. Remove the rear shock absorber assembly mounting bolts (A) and nut (B) from the body.

  8.  
  9. Remove the rear shock absorber assembly nut (B) from the rear knuckle, then remove the shock absorber assembly (A).

  10.  
  11. Remove the rear shock absorber bracket bolt (A).

To install:

  1. Install the connecting bolt (A) between the rear shock absorber and the bracket. Tightening torque: 116-130 ft. lbs. (160-180 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the rear shock absorber to the knuckle temporarily.
  4.  
  5. Install the rear shock absorber bracket mounting bolts and nut. Tightening bolt to: 60-80 ft. lbs. (80-110 Nm); tighten nut to: 65-87 ft. lbs. (90-120 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the rear shock absorber nut to the knuckle. Tightening torque: 116-130 ft. lbs. (160-180 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the wheel and the tire to the rear hub. Tightening torque: 65-80 ft. lbs. (90-110 Nm).
    WARNING
    Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when installing the rear wheel and tire.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Support the vehicle under the lower control arm.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheel
     
    Upper shock absorber upper nut
     
    Lower shock absorber nut
     
    Shock absorber
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Shock absorber. Tighten the upper nut to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm)
     
    Tighten the lower nut to 88-103 ft. lbs. (120-140 Nm)
     
    Rear wheel.

Testing & Inspection



Specific to:

Hyundai Entourage 2007-2008

  1. Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration.
  2.  
  3. Check for correct height and proper return of shock absorber to original height.
  4.  
  5. Check the shock absorber for abnormal resistance or unusual sounds.
  6.  
  7. Check for oil leakage around the seals.
  8.  
  9. Replace if necessary.
  10.  

Specific to:

Hyundai Accent 2006-2008

Hyundai Azera 2006-2008

Hyundai Elantra 2006-2008

Hyundai Sonata 2006-2008

Hyundai Tiburon 2006-2008

  1. Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration.

  9. Replace if necessary.
