Specific to:

Hyundai Entourage 2007-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the fuse box cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the starter relay (A).

  6.  
  7. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between each terminal.
    1. No continuity between terminals 30-87.
    2.  
    3. Continuity between terminals 85-86.
    4.  

  8.  
  9. Apply 12 volts to terminal 85 and a ground to terminal 86.
    1. Check for continuity between terminals 30 and 87.
    2.  
    3. If there is no continuity, replace the starter relay.
    4.  

  10.  
  11. Install the starter relay.
  12.  
  13. Install the fuse box cover.

  1. Remove fuse box cover.
  2.  
  3. Remove the starter relay (A).

  5. Install new starter relay.
  6.  
  7. Replace fuse box cover.
  8.

  1. Disconnect the field coil wire from the M-terminal of solenoid switch.
  2.  
  3. Connect the battery as shown. If the starter pinion pops out, it is working properly. To avoid damaging the starter, do not leave the battery connected for more than 10 seconds.

  5. Disconnect the battery from the M terminal. If the pinion does not retract, the hold-in coil is working properly. To avoid damaging the starter, do not leave the battery connected for more than 10 seconds.

  7. Disconnect the battery from the body. If the pinion retracts immediately, it is working properly. To avoid damaging the starter, do not leave the battery connected for more than 10 seconds.
