  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the meter hood attaching screws, located at the bottom and tilt the lower meter hood outward. Pull the hood downward to release the locking tangs at the top and remove it.

  1. Remove the meter assembly mounting screws and pull the unit outward. Disconnect the speedometer cable and all connectors. Remove the unit.

  1. Installation is the reverse order of the removal procedures.

Elantra

See Figures 5 and 6

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the coin box, ash tray and lower crash pad center facial panel.
  4.

  1. Separate the connectors from the clock, hazard switch, air conditioning switch, rear heater switch and the cruise control switch.

  1. Remove the 3 screws at the cluster fascia panel. If the speedometer is to be removed, do so now.
  2.  
  3. Remove the 4 screws retaining the cluster and connectors to the instrument panel. Remove the cluster assembly from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  6.  

Scoupe

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the ashtray.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower crash pad center fascia panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the digital clock and remote mirror switch.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 7 screws at the cluster fascia panel.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 4 screws retaining the cluster and connectors
  12.  
  13. Install the instrument cluster by reversing the removal procedure.

Sonata

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the steering column support bolts and carefully lower the column on the front seat.
  2.  
  3. Remove the cluster trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the cluster mounting screws and slowly pull the cluster outward. Disconnect the wires.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the steering column bolts to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
