Clearing Codes

On 1994-95 Elantra and Sonata, diagnostic codes may only be cleared by using a Hyundai Multi-Use Tester (MUT), or equivalent scan tool.

Diagnostic codes are retained in memory until the negative battery cable has been removed for 15 seconds or more.

If the negative battery cable is not removed, the diagnostic codes remain in memory until the ignition is turned on and the vehicle is driven at a speed greater than 13 mph twenty times or more.
