REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Fig. Fig. 2: Remove the ignition switch screws by either cutting a slot in the top of the screw or using a chisel to punch a groove. Then remove the screws with a flat bladed screwdriver

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the lower instrument panel knee protector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the steering column covers.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical harness from the mounting clip.
  10.  
  11. Remove the multifunction switch and harness.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the electrical harness for the ignition switch.
  14.  
  15. Use a hacksaw to cut a slit in the top of each of the fastening bolts. An alternate method is to use a chisel to punch a groove in the top of the screw.
  16.  
  17. Carefully remove the screws from the ignition switch.
  18.  
  19. Remove the ignition switch.
  20.  

To install:
  1. Align the halves of the ignition switch assembly around the steering column.
  2.  
  3. Align the ignition switch assembly with the column boss.
  4.  
  5. Install the new tamper proof screws and tighten loosely.
  6.  
  7. Verify proper operation of the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the tamper proof screws until their heads break off.
  10.  
  11. Connect the electrical harness for the ignition switch.
  12.  
  13. Install the multifunction switch and harness.
  14.  
  15. Connect the electrical harness to the mounting clip.
  16.  
  17. Install the steering column covers.
  18.  
  19. Install the lower instrument panel knee protector.
  20.  
  21. Install the steering wheel.
  22.  
  23. Connect the negative battery cable.
