Removal & Installation



2.0L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Accessory drive belts
     
    Timing belt
     
    Oil pan
     
    Oil screen
     
    Front case
     
    Cover from the front case
     
    Inner and outer rotors from the front case

To install:

  1. Place the inner and outer rotors into the front case with the marks facing the oil pump cover side.
  2.  
  3. Install the oil pump cover to the front case. Tighten the bolts to 4.4-6.6 ft. lbs. (6-9 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Ensure that the oil pump moves freely.
  6.  
  7. Install the oil pump to the engine block. Note the bolts lengths and installation locations as shown. Tighten the bolts to 14.5-20 ft. lbs. (20-27 Nm).

  9. Install or connect the following:

    Front crankshaft seal
     
    Oil screen
     
    Oil pan
     
    Timing belt
     
    Accessory drive belts
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  10.  
  11. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level.
  12.  
  13. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  14.  

2.7L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Right-hand front wheel
     
    Right-hand side cover
     
    Front exhaust pipe
     
    Alternator
     
    Accessory drive belts
     
    Timing belt
     
    Lower oil pan
     
    Oil screen
     
    Oil pump case
     
    Cover from oil pump housing
     
    Inner and outer rotors
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Place the inner and outer rotors into front case with the marks facing the oil pump cover side.
  2.  
  3. Install the oil pump cover to the front case. Tighten the bolts to 6-9 ft. lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Ensure the oil pump turns freely.
  6.  
  7. Apply liquid gasket to the oil pump housing as shown.

  9. Place a new O-ring on the cylinder block.
  10.  
  11. Engage the spline teeth of the oil pump drive gear with the large teeth of the crankshaft and slide the oil pump into place.
  12.  
  13. Tighten the mounting bolts to 9-11 ft. lbs. (12-15 Nm). Note the bolt lengths and mounting locations as shown.

  14.  
  15. Install or connect the following:

    Front crankshaft seal
     
    Oil screen
     
    Lower oil pan
     
    Accessory drive belts
     
    Alternator
     
    Front exhaust pipe
     
    Right-hand side cover
     
    Right-hand wheel
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  16.  
  17. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level.
  18.  
  19. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  20.
