Brake Disc (Rotor)

Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the disc brake caliper assembly. Using a wire, support the caliper assembly; do not disconnect the brake line from the caliper.
  6.  
  7. Remove the caliper support mounting bolts and remove the support.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brake disc (rotor) from the wheel hub.
  10.  
  11. Inspect the disc for wear, cracks, run-out and thickness; if necessary, replace the disc.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Install disc onto the wheel hub.
  2.  
  3. Install the caliper support on the knuckle and torque the mounting bolts to the following specifications:

    Front wheel-torque the mounting bolts to: 53-72 ft. lbs.

  5. Install the caliper assembly to the caliper support bracket. Tighten the brake caliper mounting pin bolts to 23 ft. lbs. (31 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Check the level of fluid in the master cylinder. Top off fluid as necessary.
  8.  
  9. Install the wheels and torque the wheel lug nuts to the proper specification.
  10.  
  11. If the brake system was opened, bleed the brake system.
    NOTE
    Make sure to pump the brakes and get a hard pedal before driving the vehicle!
