    Door Trim Panels

    REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



    1986-88 Vehicles

    See Figures 1, 2 and 3

    1. Remove the window regulator handle by unsnapping the handle cover from the base to expose the attaching screw. Remove the screw, handle and wearplate.

    1. Remove the door pull handle retaining screws and cover. Remove the handle.
    2.  
    3. Unfasten the upper trim panel retaining screws and remove the panel.
    4.  
    5. On Taurus vehicles, remove the trim panel opening panel cover.
    6.  
    7. Unfasten the retaining screw and remove the outside mirror's mounting hole cover assembly.
    8.  
    9. Remove all the screws retaining the door trim panel to the door, then using Trim Pad Removing Tool from Rotunda Moulding/Trim Kit 107-00401, or an equivalent door panel removing tool, pry the trim panel retaining push pins from the door inner panel.
    10.  
    11. If the trim panel is to be replaced, transfer all the push pins to the new panel. Replace any bent, broken or missing push pins.

    To install:
    1. Connect all door wiring and install the trim panel into position, ensuring the upper ridge is seated properly in the door channel.
    2.  
    3. Snap the push pins in using your hand. Start at the top and move down the sides, making sure that the push pins align with the holes in the door before applying pressure.
    4.  
    5. Install all the screws retaining the trim panel-to-door.
    6.  
    7. Snap in the door handle retainer cover and install the retaining screws.
    8.  
    9. Snap in the front door lock control knob plate.
    10.  
    11. Install the outside rear view mirror mounting hole cover and retaining screw.
    12.  
    13. Install the window regulator handle (manual only) and snap in the handle cover.

    1989-95 Vehicles

    See Figures 4, 5 and 6

    1. As required, remove the window regulator handle by unsnapping the handle cover from the base to expose the attaching screw. Remove the screw, handle and the wearplate.

    1. On the front door panel, remove the outside rear view mirror mounting hole cover retaining screw and cover.
    2.  
    3. If equipped with power windows, remove the housing and switch assembly. If equipped with power door locks, remove the housing and switch assembly.
    4.  
    5. Remove the door handle filler retaining screw. Remove the filler assembly. Snap out the door handle retainer cover.
    6.  
    7. Remove all the screws retaining the door trim panel to the door. Using Trim Pad Removal Tool from Rotunda Moulding/Trim Kit 107-00401 or an equivalent door panel removing tool, pry the trim panel retaining push pins from the door inner panel.
    8.  
    9. Disengage all door electrical wiring connectors.
    10.  
    11. If the trim panel is to be replaced, transfer all the push pins to the new panel. Replace any bent, broken or missing push pins.

    To install:

    7. If equipped with power windows, install the housing and switch assembly. If equipped with power door locks, install the housing and switch assembly.
    8.  
    9. On the front door panel, install the outside rear view mirror mounting hole cover and retaining screw.
    10.  
    11. As required, install the window regulator handle (manual only) and snap in the handle cover.
