Bushing Replacement



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    NOTE
    Make sure to note the depth and positioning of the old bushing prior to removal.



    Control arm
     

  4.  
  5. Using bushing remover/installer KM-906B install KM-906-70, 906-42, 906-41 and 906-62 onto the bushing.
  6.  
  7. Hold the hex end of the threaded shaft while turning the large nut to pull the bushing through the arm.
  8.  
  9. Remove the tools and the bushing.

To install:

  1. Install the new bushing into the tapered side of the arm.
  2.  
  3. Using bushing remover/installer KM-906B install KM-906-70, 906-42, 906-41 and 906-62 onto the bushing
  4.  
  5. Hold the hex end of the threaded shaft while turning the large nut to pull the bushing into the arm. Install the bushing to the same depth and positioning as the old one.
  6.  
  7. Remove the removal/installer tool.
  8.  
  9. Install the control arm.
  10.  

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Wheel
     
    Ball stud bolt
     
    Separate the ball stud from the steering knuckle. Do not use a pickle fork as this may cause damage.
     
    Rear frame bolt
     
    Lower control arm-to-frame bolts
     
    Lower control arm
     

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    NOTE
    The control arm contains two fore/aft movement limiting brackets. Failure to install these brackets will affect handling.



    Control arm to the frame and loosely install the rear frame bolt
     



    Ball joint stud to the steering knuckle
     
    Fore/aft movement limiting brackets onto the control arm forward bushing
     
    Control arm-to-frame-bolts and torque the bolts to 41 ft. lbs. (55 Nm)
     
    Tighten the rear frame bolt to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm) plus an additional 180 degree turn
     
    Ball joint pinch bolt and nut to 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm) plus an additional 30 degree turn
     
    Wheel
     
    Check and adjust the alignment, if necessary.
