Power Door Locks



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Turn the ignition OFF and disconnect the harness connector from the door lock switch.
  2.  
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2 with the switch in the open position. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch.
  4.  
  5. Test for 1.4-1.6 kohms between the signal terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2 with the switch in the Unlock position. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch.
  6.  
  7. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal 1 and the ground circuit terminal 2 with the switch in the Lock position. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the switch.
  8.  
  9. If the switch and wiring are not defective, replace the lock.
  10.  

Removal & Installation
Door Lock Motor

The lock is replaced as part of the door handle assembly.

  1. Raise the window to the full UP position.
  2.  
  3. Remove the upper trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the manual window regulator handle, if equipped.
  6.  
  7. Remove the power door lock switch, if equipped.
  8.  
  9. Remove the pull cup assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the door trim push-in retainers.
  12.  
  13. Remove the screw from the trim panel.
  14.  
  15. Pull the bottom of the door trim out to disengage the clips.
  16.  
  17. Lift up on the door trim panel to disengage the inner belt molding from the door flange.
  18.  
  19. Remove the door trim panel.
  20.  
  21. Remove the front door water deflector.
  22.  
  23. Remove the door inside handle screw.
  24.  
  25. Disengage the door outside handle rod from the door lock assembly.
  26.  
  27. Disconnect the wiring connector from the door lock assembly, if equipped.
  28.  
  29. Slide the door inside handle rearward in order to disengage the tabs.
  30.  
  31. Remove the lock cylinder rod.
  32.  
  33. Remove the door lock assembly attachment bolts.
  34.  
  35. Important: This assembly should include the rods and lock assembly.
  36.  
  37. Remove the inside handle assembly from the door.
  38.  
  39. Disconnect the inside door handle and door lock assembly from the rods
  40.  

To install:

  1. Assemble the inside handle, inside handle rods, and lock assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the assembled inside handle, rods, and lock assembly into the door.
  4.  
  5. Install the front door lock assembly attachment bolts. And tighten to 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the wiring connector to the door lock assembly, if equipped.
  8.  
  9. Install the inside handle by engaging the tabs and installing the inside handle screw.
  10.  
  11. Install the outside handle rod to the lock assembly. Install the outside lock cylinder rod to the lock assembly.
  12.  
  13. Install the front door water deflector.
  14.  
  15. Install the remaining components in the reverse order of removal.

Door Lock Switch
  1. Using a flat-bladed tool, pry the switch from the door trim panel enough to expose the locking tabs.
  2.  
  3. Press the locking tab to remove the lock switch from the door trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the door lock switch.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.
