Cruise/Brake Switch Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



If DTC P0572 or P0573 is set, repair these trouble codes first!
 
PCM may have failed (an internal fault)

Cruise/Brake Switch Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



Brake switch signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
Brake switch power circuit is open (check the switch fuse)
 
Brake switch is damaged or out-of-adjustment
 
PCM has failed

Cruise/Brake Switch Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



Brake switch signal circuit is shorted to system power
 
Brake switch is damaged or out-of-adjustment
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0600



Loss Of Serial Communication Link

Possible Causes:



Reprogram the PCM
 
Recheck for any related trouble codes and repair these codes!

PCM Memory Error

Possible Causes:



Perform the Diagnostic System Check for the PCM
 
Record any related trouble codes in memory
 
PCM may have failed (replace it and reprogram the new PCM)
 
Perform the Security System (Passlock) Relearn Procedure
 

Trouble Code: P0602



PCM Or TCM Not Programmed

Possible Causes:



Perform the Diagnostic System Check for the PCM or TCM
 
Record any related trouble codes in memory
 
Reprogram the PCM or TCM and recheck for related trouble codes. If the same code resets, replace and reprogram the PCM or the TCM (depending upon which one set the code).
 
Perform the Security System (Passlock) Relearn Procedure

PCM Memory Reset Error

Possible Causes:



Record any related trouble codes in memory
 
PCM has failed (replace it and reprogram the new PCM)
 
Perform the Security System (Passlock) Relearn Procedure

PCM Or TCM Random Access Memory Error

Possible Causes:



Record any related trouble codes in memory
 
PCM has failed (replace it and reprogram the new PCM/TCM)

PCM Random Access Memory Error

Possible Causes:



Record any related trouble codes in memory
 
Clear codes, then restart the vehicle and recheck for this code.
 
If it resets, the PCM may have failed.
 
PCM has failed (replace it and reprogram the new PCM)

PCM Internal Performance Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Record any related trouble codes in memory
 
Reprogram the PCM and recheck for any related trouble codes
 
If it resets, the PCM may have to be replaced
 
PCM has failed (replace it and reprogram the new PCM)

Steering Assist Solenoid Control Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



EVO solenoid circuit is shorted to ground
 
EVO solenoid is damaged or it has failed (solenoid is shorted)

Possible Causes:



EVO solenoid control circuit is open
 
EVO solenoid control circuit is shorted to system power

Fuel Gauge Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Fuel gauge signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
Fuel gauge is damaged or it has failed
 
Instrument cluster power circuit is open or the cluster has failed
 
PCM has failed

Transaxle Control System Low Input

Possible Causes:



Check for an open or grounded condition at the solenoid circuit of the transaxle connector located on top of the transaxle.
 
PCM has failed

Transaxle Range Switch Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



TR switch circuit(s) is open or shorted to ground
 
TR switch circuit(s) is shorted to system power (B+)
 
TR switch is damaged, out of adjustment or it has failed

Transaxle Range Switch Signal Range/Performance

Possible Causes:



TR switch cable is not adjusted properly
 
TR switch is loose or out-of-adjustment
 
TR switch is damaged or it has failed

Possible Causes:



TR switch cable is not tightened properly
 
TR switch connector is disconnected or loose
 
TR switch is damaged or it has failed
 
TCM has failed

TFT Sensor Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



ECT or IAT sensor is out-of-calibration or "skewed"
 
TFT sensor is contaminated, damaged or "skewed"
 
TFT sensor signal or ground circuit has a high resistance fault
 
PCM has failed

TFT Sensor Signal Range/Performance

Possible Causes:



ECT or IAT sensor is out-of-calibration or "skewed"
 
TFT sensor is contaminated, damaged or "skewed"
 
TFT sensor signal or ground circuit has a high resistance fault
 
PCM has failed
 
TSB 01-07-30-022 contains a repair procedure for this code
 

Trouble Code: P0712



TFT Sensor Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



TFT sensor signal circuit is shorted to sensor ground
 
TFT sensor is damaged or it has failed (it may be shorted)
 
TCM has failed

TFT Sensor Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



TFT sensor signal circuit is open between the sensor and PCM
 
TFT sensor ground circuit is open
 
TFT sensor is damaged or has failed (the circuit may be open)
 
PCM has failed

TFT Sensor Signal Intermittent

Possible Causes:



TFT sensor signal circuit is open (an intermittent fault)
 
TFT sensor ground circuit is open (an intermittent fault)
 
TFT sensor signal circuit is shorted to VREF (intermittent fault)
 
TFT sensor is damaged or it has failed (intermittent fault)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0716



A/T Input Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit Intermittent

Possible Causes:



ISS assembly connector is damaged or loose
 
ISS circuit is open, shorted to ground or to power (Intermittent)
 
ISS wiring routed too close to Generator, spark plug wires or any other possible cause of EMI/RFI interference
 
ISS is damaged or it has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0717



Input Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



ISS assembly connector is damaged or shorted
 
ISS circuit is open or shorted to ground (Intermittent)
 
ISS sensor resistance is from 800-1800 ohms at 68ºF
 
ISS is damaged or it has failed
 
PCM has failed

Output Shaft Speed Sensor Signal Performance

Possible Causes:



OSS circuit is open, shorted to ground or to power (intermittent)
 
OSS wiring routed too close to Generator, spark plug wires or any other possible cause of EMI/RFI interference
 
OSS is damaged or it has failed
 
PCM has failed

Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



OSS circuit is open, shorted to ground or to system power
 
OSS is damaged or it has failed
 
PCM has failed

Engine Speed Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



CAN bus circuit is open, shorted to ground or shorted to power
 
TCM or PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0731



Transaxle - No First Gear Available

Possible Causes:



If any Shift Solenoid performance codes are set (P0781, P0782 or P0783 for 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear stuck "on"), fix the highest gear code first. A gear stuck "on" will cause a loss of 1st Gear.
 
End cover 1st gear hub seal rings may be damaged
 
1st clutch piston may be leaking
 
Input shaft feed tube to end cover may be blocked
 
Servo leak, passage blocked (no oil pressure to 1st gear clutch)
 
1st gear spray failed or 1st gear clutch plates may be worn
 
1st gear shift solenoid is damaged or it has failed
 
TSB 99-07-30-018 contains a repair procedure for this code
 
TSB 03-07-30-008 contains a repair procedure for this code
 

Trouble Code: P0732



Transaxle - No Second Gear Available

Possible Causes:



If any shift solenoid performance codes are set (P0782 or P0783 for 3rd or 4th gear stuck "on"), fix the highest gear code first. A 3rd or 4th gear stuck "on" will cause a loss of 2nd Gear.
 
3rd or 4th Gear Shift solenoid sticking will cause 3rd or 4th gear to be applied from a standing stop and cause loss of 2nd Gear
 
2nd gear shift solenoid is damaged or it has failed
 
TSB 99-07-30-018 contains a repair procedure for this code
 

Trouble Code: P0733



Transaxle - No Third Gear Available

Possible Causes:



If any shift solenoid performance codes is set (P0783 for 4th gear stuck "on"), fix that trouble code first. A 4th gear stuck "on" condition can cause a loss of 3rd gear, a loss of 4th gear, and the TCC may be stuck in "on" position.
 
4th Gear Shift solenoid sticking will cause 4th gear to be applied from a standing stop and cause a loss of 3rd Gear.
 
3rd gear shift solenoid is damaged or it has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0734



Transaxle - No Fourth Gear Available (AF23-5)

Possible Causes:



Delivery tube busing in the output shaft miss-located or loose
 
Plugged or restricted oil passages or faulty clutch plates
 
Piston seal cut or damaged
 
Output shaft check ball is missing
 
Output shaft seal, Output shaft or 4th clutch 'O' rings damaged
 
4th gear shift solenoid is damaged or it has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0740



TCC Enable Solenoid Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



TCC enable solenoid control circuit is open
 
TCC enable solenoid control circuit is shorted to ground
 
TCC enable solenoid power circuit is open (check the fuse)
 
TCC enable solenoid is damaged (resistance is 3.8-7.2 ohms)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0741



TCC System Malfunction (Stuck Off)

Possible Causes:



Converter charge valve is stuck causing the TCC "apply" pressure to be exhausted to the lube circuit
 
Converter limiting valve stuck open
 
Input shaft O-ring or torque converter O-ring leaking
 
TCC apply circuit internal damage or low main line oil pressure
 
Torque converter is damaged or it has failed
 
TSB 99-07-30-018 contains a repair procedure for this code
 

Trouble Code: P0742



TCC System Malfunction (Stuck On)

Possible Causes:



Converter charge valve is stuck or stuck in the bore
 
Input shaft ball is loose
 
Input shaft to stator shaft seals damaged causing the TCC release circuit to leak
 
Input shaft is damaged (solenoid resistance is 3.8-7.2 ohms)
 
Torque converter O-ring damaged or leaking
 
Torque converter is damaged or it has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0743



TCC Solenoid Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



TCC solenoid control circuit is shorted to power
 
TCC enable solenoid is damaged or it has failed (it is shorted)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0744



TCC Solenoid Circuit Intermittent Signal

Possible Causes:



TCC solenoid control circuit is open (intermittent fault)
 
TCC solenoid control circuit is shorted to ground (intermittent)
 
TCC solenoid is damaged or it has failed (intermittent open/short)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0745



Pressure Control Solenoid Malfunction (Low Pressure)

Possible Causes:



Pressure regulator valve stuck "open" or it is binding in the bore
 
Sump suction filter is restricted
 
Internal leak present, casting or pump to case seal leak present
 
Pump is damaged or it has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0746



Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



PCS solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
PCS enable solenoid is damaged or has failed (an open circuit)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0747



Pressure Control Solenoid Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



PCS solenoid control circuit is shorted to system power (B+)
 
PCS enable solenoid is damaged or failed (a shorted circuit)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0748



Transaxle Fluid Line Pressure Too High

Possible Causes:



PCS (solenoid) is damaged or it has failed
 
Pressure regulator it has failed (take the valve body apart to inspect for this problem and replace any necessary parts)
 
PCS control circuit is damaged or it has failed
