PCS control circuit is open (intermittent fault)

Transaxle Shift Solenoid 2 Performance

Possible Causes:



2nd clutch plates are damaged or faulty
 
If there is no Reverse, check the end cover input hub seals
 
Valve body space plate or gasket is faulty
 
Remove valve body and then "air check" the 2nd clutch
 
Verify that the Shift Solenoid 2 is not sticking (bench test)
 
TSB 99-07-30-018 contains a repair procedure for this code
 

Trouble Code: P0782



Transaxle Shift Solenoid 3 Performance

Possible Causes:



3rd clutch plates are damaged or faulty
 
Valve body space plate or gasket is faulty
 
Remove valve body and then "air check" the 3rd clutch
 
Verify that the Shift Solenoid 3 is not sticking (bench test)
 
TSB 99-07-30-018 contains a repair procedure for this code
 

Trouble Code: P0783



Transaxle Shift Solenoid 4 Performance

Possible Causes:



Valve body space plate or gasket is faulty
 
Remove valve body and then "air check" the 4th clutch
 
Observe the 4th clutch apply and release function
 
Verify that the Shift Solenoid 4 is not sticking (bench test)
 
TSB 99-07-30-018 contains a repair procedure for this code

Transaxle Shift/Timing Solenoid Circuit Intermittent

Possible Causes:



Shift Solenoid 2 control circuit is open, shorted to ground or B+
 
Shift Solenoid 3 control circuit is open, shorted to ground or B+
 
Shift Solenoid 4 control circuit is open, shorted to ground or B+
 
PCS (solenoid) control circuit is open, shorted to ground or B+
 
TCC solenoid control circuit is open, shorted to ground or B+
 
PCM has failed

Possible Causes:



Exhaust leak present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Fuel system is too rich (fuel pressure too high, fuel pressure regulator leaking, or one or more fuel injectors sticking/leaking)
 
HO2S element is silicon, water or fuel contaminated or it failed

HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Transition Time Ratio

Possible Causes:



HO2S heater is damaged or it has failed
 
HO2S signal or ground circuit has a high resistance condition
 
HO2S signal circuit is open or shorted to system power (B+)
 
HO2S has failed (i.e., it is silicon, water or fuel contaminated)

Possible Causes:



Perform the Crankshaft Variation Relearn Procedure
 
Excessive air gap, poor reluctor machining quality or "run-out"
 
EMI or RFI "noise" on CKP sensor circuit - repeat the "relearn"
 
The CKP "relearn" procedure will not run if there are any DTC P0300 Series codes in memory - repair these codes first!
 
Engine too cold to run the procedure - allow engine to warm up

EGR valve has carbon buildup on the pintle and it is stuck open
 
EGR valve sticking open due to a faulty gasket or it has failed
