Misfire Detected With Low Fuel

Possible Causes:



If this DTC is present, and no misfire condition or lean condition currently exists, the vehicle was driven while low on fuel.
 
If the fuel level is low, add some fuel to the tank prior a retest
 
Drive the vehicle under the conditions present in Freeze Frame to verify the original trouble code does not reset
 
Perform the Diagnostic Circuit Check for Engine Controls

Knock Sensor Module Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



Clear codes and retest for this trouble code. If it resets, the PCM must be replaced to correct the fault - the Knock sensor is included with the PCM on this vehicle application.

Knock Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



Knock sensor signal circuit is open, shorted to ground or power
 
Knock sensor ground circuit is open (check for proper torque)
 
Knock sensor is damaged or it has failed
 
PCM has failed
 
TSB 98-T-26 contains a repair procedure for this trouble code

Knock Sensor Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



Base engine problem (check the valve train for cause of noise)
 
Check the type of fuel being used (i.e., low octane fuel in a high altitude area with the driven under high-load conditions)
 
Engine mechanical problem creating too much engine noise (check the belt tensioner, check for any loose brackets)

Knock Sensor Circuit Low Frequency

Possible Causes:



Knock sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
Knock sensor is not tightened to the proper specification
 
Knock sensor is damaged or it has failed
 
PCM has failed

Possible Causes:



Base engine problem (check the valve train for cause of noise)

CKP sensor circuit is shorted to ground (may be intermittent)
 
CKP sensor signal wires routed too close to Generator, spark plug wires or any other possible cause of EMI/RFI interference
 
CKP sensor is damaged or it has failed
 
CMP sensor ground circuit is open (if DTC P0103, P0108, P0113, P0118, P0123, P0223, P0406 and P1271 are also set, check for an open signal return circuit)
 
CMP sensor ground circuit is open (if DTC P0102, P0107 and P0405 are also set, check for an open signal return circuit)
