Rear Suspension

Print

The major components of the rear suspension are: the MacPherson struts, rear crossmember, knuckles, stabilizer bar (sway bar), lateral links and trailing arms. The upper ends of the MacPherson struts are attached to the body by fasteners. The lower end of the strut is attached to the crossmember through the knuckle, lateral links and trailing arm. The lateral links provide side-to-side stability, while the trailing arm provides front-to-rear stability. The strut assembly, which consists of a coil spring and a strut provides both functions that a spring and a shock absorber would.

The rear suspension components are lubricated for life and require no routine greasing or lubrication. However, they should be periodically checked for damage or wear.
