REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figure 1

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Remove the driveshaft assembly from the vehicle, as described earlier in this section.
  4.  
  5. Remove the locknut, then pull the flange off the driveshaft with a gear puller.
  6.  
  7. Remove retainer bolt and retainer.
  8.  
  9. Remove the supporting ring and cushion rubber.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bearing assembly using a gear puller.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Repack the bearing with multipurpose type grease. Install it into the cushion rubber.
  2.  
  3. Install the cushion rubber and support ring onto the driveshaft.
  4.  
  5. Install the retainer and retainer bolt.
  6.  
  7. Slide the flange onto the driveshaft and draw it into place by tightening the locknut to 90 ft. lbs. (122 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Install the driveshaft, as described earlier in this section.
  10.  
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12.
