The mixture control solenoid is used on carbureted engines to meter the air/fuel mixture. The ECM sends a varying signal to the mixture control solenoid. This signal is determined by the ECM according to information it receives from other sensors, such as the coolant temperature sensor, wide open throttle switch and oxygen sensor.

- Unplug the mixture control solenoid connector.
- Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between the terminals.
- Resistance should be over 20 ohms. If not, replace the sensor.
