REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Early Model Pick-Up
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radio knobs by pulling off.
  4.  
  5. Remove the jam nuts, washers and face panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the instrument cluster panel and radio retaining screws.
  8.  
  9. Remove the radio and disconnect the harness connector.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Connect the harness connector, install the radio and screws.
  2.  
  3. Install the instrument cluster panel.
  4.  
  5. Install the jam nuts, washers and face panel.
  6.  
  7. Install the radio knobs by pushing on.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative (-) battery cable and check operation.
  10.  

Late Model Pick-Up and Amigo


CAUTION
If equipped with an air bag, the system must be properly disarmed before any work takes place near the bag or wiring. For details, please refer to the information on the Supplemental Restraint System in this section.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front console and disconnect the harness connector and feeder cable, if so equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radio retaining screws and radio assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the radio bracket and bolts.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the radio bracket and bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the radio retaining screws and radio assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the front console and connect the harness connector and feeder cable, if so equipped.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative (-) battery cable and check operation.
  8.  

Trooper and Rodeo

  3. Remove the radio knobs, nuts and washers.
  4.  
  5. Remove the case, radio and screws.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the radio retaining screws.
  8.  
  9. Remove the brackets from the radio chassis.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the brackets to the radio chassis.
  2.  
  3. Connect the wiring harness and install the radio retaining screws.
  4.  
  5. Install the case, radio and screws.
  6.  
  7. Install the radio washers, nuts and knobs.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
  10.
