REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Most early models had the lighting and wiper control switches in a instrument cluster pack. Early Trooper and P'up had a knob design headlight switch. Later models placed light controls in the combination switch stalks coming from the steering column. The combination switch function combine turn signals, headlights, wiper, cruise control and other options in the combination switch. If you vehicle is equipped with the combination switch design in a control stalk coming from the steering column, refer to Combination Switch'' for all applicable switches.

Knob Design
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Using a small screwdriver, loosen the knob set screw and remove the switch knob.
  4.  
  5. Remove the retaining nut, being careful not to damage the instrument panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the switch and disconnect the wiring.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the switch and connect the wiring.
  2.  
  3. Install the retaining nut and knob.
  4.  
  5. Connect the battery cable and check operation.
  6.  

Instrument Cluster Design
  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument cluster as outlined in this section.
  4.  
  5. Loosen the switch screws and remove the switch.
  6.  
  7. Install the switch and tighten screws.
  8.  
  9. Install the cluster and connect the negative battery cable.
  10.
