REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Amigo, Hombre and Pick-Up

CAUTION
If equipped with an air bag, the system must be properly disarmed before any work takes place near the bag or wiring. For details, please refer to the information on the Supplemental Restraint System in this section.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the radio and heater knobs.
  4.  
  5. Remove the instrument cluster panel and radio.
  6.  
  7. Remove the side ventilator by prying with a suitable prybar.
  8.  
  9. Remove the instrument cluster assembly and defroster nozzle.
  10.  
  11. Remove the ventilator duct, duct and heater unit.
  12.  
  13. Remove the steering wheel, column and shaft assembly as outlined in this section.
  14.  
  15. Remove the instrument panel and panel cover.
  16.  

To install:
  1. Install the instrument panel and panel cover.
  2.  
  3. Install the steering wheel, column and shaft assembly as outlined in this section.
  4.  
  5. Install the ventilator duct, duct and heater unit.
  6.  
  7. Install the instrument cluster assembly and defroster nozzle.
  8.  
  9. Install the side ventilator.
  10.  
  11. Install the instrument cluster panel and radio.
  12.  
  13. Install the radio and heater knobs.
  14.  
  15. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
  16.  

Trooper

CAUTION
If equipped with an air bag, the system must be properly disarmed before any work takes place near the bag or wiring. For details, please refer to the information on the Supplemental Restraint System in this section.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the parcel tray and combination gauges, if so equipped.
  4.  
  5. Remove the instrument cluster hood and cluster assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the glove compartment and radio, if so equipped.
  8.  
  9. Remove the side ventilator and side defroster grille.
  10.  
  11. Remove the instrument panel retaining bolts and panel.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install the instrument panel and instrument panel retaining bolts.
  2.  
  3. Install the side ventilator and side defroster grille.
  4.  
  5. Install the glove compartment and radio, if so equipped.
  6.  
  7. Install the instrument cluster hood and cluster assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install the parcel tray and combination gauges, if so equipped.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
  12.  

Rodeo

CAUTION
If equipped with an air bag, the system must be properly disarmed before any work takes place near the bag or wiring. For details, please refer to the information on the Supplemental Restraint System in this section.

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering wheel and cowl assembly.
  4.  
  5. Insert a prybar into the gap and remove the instrument panel grille and bezel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the instrument panel fixing nuts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the instrument cluster assembly as outlined in this section.
  10.  
  11. Remove the cluster hood and engine hood opener cable.
  12.  
  13. Remove the steering lower cover and fuse box.
  14.  
  15. Remove the dash trim panel and ECM (electronic control module).
  16.  
  17. Remove the console and lower reinforcement.
  18.  
  19. Remove the speaker grilles and speakers.
  20.  
  21. Remove the glove box, air conditioning and heater knobs.
  22.  
  23. Remove the control lever and disconnect the cables.
  24.  
  25. Remove the illumination controller and switch bezel.
  26.  
  27. Remove the instrument panel and disconnect the harnesses, if necessary.
  28.  

To install:
  1. Install the instrument panel and connect the harnesses, if necessary.
  2.  
  3. Install the illumination controller and switch bezel.
  4.  
  5. Install the control lever and connect the cables.
  6.  
  7. Install the glove box, air conditioning and heater knobs.
  8.  
  9. Install the speaker grilles and speakers.
  10.  
  11. Install the console and lower reinforcement.
  12.  
  13. Install the dash trim panel and ECM (electronic control module).
  14.  
  15. Install the steering lower cover and fuse box.
  16.  
  17. Install the cluster hood and engine hood opener cable.
  18.  
  19. Install the instrument cluster assembly as outlined in this section.
  20.  
  21. Install the instrument panel fixing nuts.
  22.  
  23. Install the instrument panel grille and bezel.
  24.  
  25. Install the steering wheel and cowl assembly.
  26.  
  27. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
