  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove door panel as described earlier in this section. Remove the plastic water seal carefully, it must be reused.
  4.  
  5. If equipped with a factory anti-theft system, tag and disconnect the wires attached to the back side of the door handle and lock cylinder.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the inside handle rod clips. Disconnect and remove all lock control rods, noting their position for installation.
  8.  
  9. Remove the door lock assembly mounting screws from the outside of the door and remove the door lock assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the key cylinder by prying the retaining clip with an appropriate tool.
  12.  
  13. Remove the outside door handle by loosening the 2 outside handle mounting bolts from inside the door.
  14.  
  15. Remove the inside door handle by loosening the retaining screws. Some inside handles may be attached with rivets. In this case drill the rivets out with the appropriate size drill bit.
  16.  
  17. If equipped with power door locks, disconnect the power door lock wiring harness, remove the attaching screws, then remove the assembly.
  18.  

To install:
  1. Lubricate all components prior to installation.
  2.  
  3. If the lock cylinder was removed, install the cylinder into the handle assembly, and secure with the retainer clip.
  4.  
  5. If equipped with power locks, connect the power door lock wiring harness. Install the assembly and attach the retainer screws.
  6.  
  7. Install the inside and/or outside door handle by install the retaining screws, or rivets.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the door lock assembly and outside door handle mounting screws to 48 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the inside handle rod clips to the control rods.
  12.  
  13. If equipped with a factory anti-theft system, connect the wires attached to the back side of the door handle and lock cylinder.
  14.  
  15. Install the door panel as described in this section.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
  18.  
  19. Using the lock key, make sure the serviced lock(s) on the vehicle work correctly.
