The rear suspension system consists of 3 major components: double acting shock absorbers, variable rate multi-leaf springs or coil springs and the solid rear axle assembly. The multi-leaf springs are connected to the frame by a hanger assembly with integral bushings in the front and a shackle assembly with integral bushings in the rear. In response to different road and payload conditions, the shackle assembly allows the leaf spring to change its length''. The rear axle is connected to both the leaf springs or coil spring and the shock absorbers by various attaching parts.
