Wheel Speed Sensor Rotors (Toothed Rings)

Removal & Installation




NOTE
Never reuse a sensor rotor.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the halfshaft. Remove the front sensor rotor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear wheel hub. Remove the rear sensor rotor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the sensor rotor using the proper puller, drift and bearing replacer.
  10.  

To install:

  1. For the front sensor rotor, use a hammer and a wooden block to install the rotor sensor.
  2.  
  3. For the rear sensor rotor, use a suitable drift and press.
  4.  
  5. Pay attention to the dimension of the rear sensor rotor, it should be 0.894-0.933 inch (22.7-23.7 mm).

  7. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  8.  


NOTE
Never reuse a sensor rotor.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
    NOTE
    On 2WD vehicles the front sensor rotor cannot be disassembled. It is integrated to the hub and bearing assembly.

  5. To remove the front sensor rotor on AWD vehicles, remove the halfshaft.
  6.  
  7. On AWD vehicles, remove the front sensor rotor from the halfshaft.
  8.  
  9. To remove the rear sensor, remove the side flange.
  10.  
  11. Using a bearing replacer tool and a puller, remove the sensor rotor from the side flange.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. On the rear sensor rotor, use a drift and press the rear sensor rotor into the side flange.
  4.

  5. Pay attention to the dimension of the rear sensor rotor, it should be 0.492-0.531 inch (12.5-13.5 mm).

  7. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.

  5. Remove the front wheel hub and knuckle. Using a bearing replacer and puller remove the sensor rotor from the hub.
  6.  
  7. To remove the rear sensor rotor, remove the side flange from the final drive. Using a bearing replacer and puller remove the sensor rotor from the companion flange.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Using a suitable drift and press install the sensor rotor onto the side flange for rear sensor rotor and the front hub for front sensor rotor.
  2.  
  3. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  4.
