Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the necessary components to gain access to the air conditioning compressor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the mounting nuts from the low and high pressure air conditioning lines.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect and remove the high and low air conditioning compressor lines.
    NOTE
    Cap the lines to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  12.  
  13. Disconnect the compressor (magnet clutch and ECV) connectors.
  14.  
  15. Remove the compressor belt.
  16.  
  17. Remove the compressor retaining bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the compressor from the vehicle.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings to ensure a proper seal.
  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts in the proper sequence to 45 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the necessary components to gain access to the air conditioning compressor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the mounting nuts from the low and high pressure air conditioning lines.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect and remove the high and low air conditioning compressor lines.
    NOTE
    Cap the lines to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  12.  
  13. Disconnect the compressor (magnet clutch and ECV) connectors.
  14.  
  15. Remove the compressor belt.
  16.  
  17. Remove the compressor retaining bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the compressor from the vehicle.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings to ensure a proper seal.
  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts in the proper sequence to 45 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.

  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts in the proper sequence to 45 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine undercover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the air duct, air inlet pipe and air cleaner assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the drive belt.
  12.  
  13. Remove the mounting nuts from the low and high pressure air conditioning lines.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect and remove the high and low air conditioning compressor lines.
    NOTE
    Cap the lines to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  16.  
  17. Disconnect the compressor magnet clutch connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the mounting bolt from the radiator pipe bracket.
  20.  
  21. Move the radiator hose to the right side of the vehicle.
  22.  
  23. Remove the compressor retaining bolts.
  24.  
  25. Remove the compressor from the upper side of the vehicle.
  26.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings to ensure a proper seal.
  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts to 45 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.

  17. Remove the compressor retaining bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the compressor from the vehicle.
  20.  
  21. If required remove the compressor mounting plate from the engine block.
  22.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings to ensure a proper seal.
  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts in the proper sequence to 33-38 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Torque the compressor mounting plate retaining bolts in the proper sequence to 33-37 ft. lbs.
  8.  
  9. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine cover. Remove the air cleaner cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the engine undercover
  10.  
  11. Remove the air cleaner assembly, air duct and air inlet pipe.
  12.  
  13. Remove the drive belt.
  14.  
  15. Remove the mounting nuts from the low and high pressure air conditioning lines.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect and remove the high and low air conditioning compressor lines.
    NOTE
    Cap the lines to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  18.  
  19. Disconnect the compressor (magnet clutch and ECV) connectors.
  20.  
  21. Remove the high pressure hose mounting clips. Remove the compressor retaining bolts.
  22.  
  23. Remove the compressor from the vehicle.
  24.  
  25. If required remove the compressor mounting plate from the engine block.
  26.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings to ensure a proper seal.
  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts in the proper sequence to 45 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the air duct, air cleaner assembly and air hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the engine undercover.
  12.  
  13. Remove the dumper.
  14.  
  15. Remove the high and low pressure flexible hoses.
  16.  
  17. Remove the high pressure pipe No. 1.
    NOTE
    Cap the lines to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  18.  
  19. Disconnect the compressor magnet clutch connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the compressor belt.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the compressor ECV connector.
  24.  
  25. Remove the compressor retaining bolts.
  26.  
  27. Remove the compressor (upward) from the vehicle.
  28.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings to ensure a proper seal.
  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts to 45 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.
  8.  

Except AWD



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Properly discharge the air conditioning system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the engine cover.
  8.  
  9. Remove the air duct, air cleaner assembly and air hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the engine undercover.
  12.  
  13. Remove the mounting nuts from the low and high pressure air conditioning lines.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect and remove the high and low air conditioning compressor lines.
    NOTE
    Cap the lines to prevent dirt from entering the system.

  16.  
  17. Disconnect the compressor magnet clutch connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the compressor belt.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the compressor ECV connector.
  22.  
  23. Remove the compressor retaining bolts.
  24.  
  25. Remove the compressor (downward) from the vehicle.
  26.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Replace all O-rings to ensure a proper seal.
  4.  
  5. Torque the compressor retaining bolts to 45 ft. lbs.
  6.  
  7. Properly evacuate and recharge the system.
