Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the stabilizer bar retaining bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stabilizer bar from its mounting.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. When installing the stabilizer, be sure that the band and clamp face the proper direction.
  4.  
  5. Make sure that the slit in the bushing is in the proper position.
  6.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the stabilizer bar retaining bolts.
  6.  
  7. Remove the tension rod mounting bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer bar from its mounting.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Matchmark all pieces.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fasteners and remove stabilizer bar.
  8.  
  9. When installing stabilizer bar, make sure that paint mark and clamp face in their correct directions.
  10.  
  11. When removing and installing stabilizer bar, hold portion A.
  12.  
  13. Install stabilizer bar with ball joint socket properly placed. See the exploded view for torque values.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove power steering gear.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fasteners and remove the stabilizer bar.
  8.  
  9. When installing stabilizer, make sure that band and clamp face in their correct directions.
  10.  
  11. Make sure that slit in bushing is in the position shown in the figure.
  12.  
  13. Install stabilizer bar with ball joint socket properly placed. See the exploded view for torque values.
  14.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove undercover.
  8.  
  9. Remove mounting nut on upper position of stabilizer connecting rod with a power tool.
  10.  
  11. Remove stabilizer clamp mounting bolts and nuts with a power tool.
  12.  
  13. Remove stabilizer bar from vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Check stabilizer bar, stabilizer connecting rod, stabilizer bushing and stabilizer clamp for deformation, cracks and damage, and replace if necessary.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Refer to the exploded view for tightening torque. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE
    Refer to component parts location and do not reuse non-reusable parts.

  2.  
  3. After removing/installing or replacing suspension components, check wheel alignment.
  4.  
  5. After adjusting wheel alignment, adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor.
  6.  
  7. Stabilizer bar uses pillow ball type connecting rod.
  8.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove undercover.
  8.  
  9. Remove mounting nut on upper position of stabilizer connecting rod with a power tool.
  10.  
  11. Remove stabilizer clamp mounting bolts and nuts with a power tool.
  12.  
  13. Remove stabilizer bar from vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Check stabilizer bar, stabilizer connecting rod, stabilizer bushing and stabilizer clamp for deformation, cracks and damage, and replace if necessary.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Refer to the exploded view for tightening torque. Install in the reverse order of removal.
    NOTE
    Refer to component parts location and do not reuse non-reusable parts.

  3. After removing/installing or replacing suspension components, check wheel alignment.

2-Wheel Drive
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove the wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove undercover.
  8.  
  9. Remove mounting nut on upper portion of stabilizer connecting rod with power tool.
  10.  
  11. Remove fixing bolts and nuts, then remove stabilizer clamp, stabilizer bushing, and stabilizer clamp bracket.
  12.  
  13. Remove stabilizer bar from vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Check stabilizer bar, stabilizer connecting rod, stabilizer bushing, stabilizer clamp and stabilizer clamp bracket for deformation, cracks and damage, and replace if necessary.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Refer to the exploded view for tightening torque. Install in the reverse order of removal. Tighten each bolt and nut as shown in the figure.
  2.  
  3. The stabilizer bar uses pillow ball type connecting rod. Position ball joint with case on pillow ball head parallel to stabilizer bar.
  4.  

All Wheel Drive
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove tire with power tool.
  6.  
  7. Remove undercover with power tool.
  8.  
  9. Remove mounting nut on upper portion of stabilizer connecting rod with power tool.
  10.  
  11. Remove fixing bolt and nut, then remove stabilizer clamp, stabilizer bushing.
  12.  
  13. Remove stabilizer bar from vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Check stabilizer bar, stabilizer connecting rod, stabilizer bushing and clamp for deformation, cracks and damage, and replace if necessary.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Refer to the exploded view for tightening torque. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  2.  
  3. The stabilizer bar uses pillow ball type connecting rod. Position ball joint with case on pillow ball head parallel to stabilizer bar.
