CAUTION
Do not use conventional fuel filters, hoses or clamps when servicing this fuel system. They are not compatible with the high pressures of the injection system and could fail, causing personal injury. Use only components specifically designed for fuel injection.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable

Fuel hoses from the fuel filter, located at the right side of the engine compartment

    Filter mounting screws

    Filter from the vehicle

  6.

To install:

  1. Inspect all hoses and clamps for damage of any type. Replace parts, as required.
    NOTE
The fuel filters are directional and should be installed with the arrow facing the direction of fuel flow.

  2.
  3. Install or connect the following:

New filter in the bracket and install new hose clamp

    Negative battery cable

  4.
  5. Start the vehicle, check for fuel leaks and repair if necessary.
    NOTE
On some vehicles, a code will be set and/or the check engine light will remain on after starting the vehicle. This is because a code was set for an open fuel pump circuit when the fuel pressure was released. If you did not disconnect the negative battery cable during this procedure, do it now so the code will be erased. The negative battery cable should be disconnected for at least 1 minute. Also, remember to reset the clock and radio stations when finished.

  6.
