Removal & Installation

NOTE
The manufacturer does not provide removal and installation procedures for this operation. In order to remove the door window motor the door panel must first be removed.

NOTE
After the front window motor is replaced it must be reset. Completely close the window. Press down on the reset switch and completely open the window. Release the switch. Close the window completely. The limit switch is now reset.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. To remove the door panel, remove the trim plate inside handle portion and remove the screws.
  6.  
  7. Using a suitable tool, disconnect the pawls and remove the grip finisher.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screw of the door grip finisher.
  10.  
  11. Insert the suitable tool between the panel on the vehicle and the clips on the panel and remove it.
  12.  
  13. Operate the power window main switch to raise/lower the door window until the glass mounting bolts can be seen.
  14.  
  15. Remove the glass mounting bolts.
  16.  
  17. Raise the door glass and hold it in position, using a suitable tool.
  18.  
  19. Remove the bolts and the module assembly from the vehicle.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the harness connector from the module assembly and unclip the harness form the back of the module.
  22.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. To reset the limit switch, open the door, lift up and hold the power window switch until the door glass is fully closed.
  4.  
  5. Get inside the vehicle and close the door.
  6.  
  7. Press and hold the rest switch. While holding the reset switch, press down and hold the power window switch until the door glass is fully closed.
  8.  
  9. Release the reset switch. Then, lift up and hold the power window switch until the door glass is fully closed.
  10.  
  11. Open the door to release the door switch. The door glass should partially move down.
    NOTE
    Do not use the window AUTO function. Do not release the switch before the window is fully stopped.

Sedan (Front Door)

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. To remove the door panel, remove the trim plate inside handle portion and remove the screws.
  6.  
  7. Using a suitable tool, disconnect the pawls and remove the grip finisher.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screw of the door grip finisher.
  10.  
  11. Insert the suitable tool between the panel on the vehicle and the clips on the panel and remove it.
  12.  
  13. Remove the front door speaker.
  14.  
  15. Operate the power window main switch to raise/lower the door window until the glass mounting bolts can be seen.
  16.  
  17. Remove the glass mounting bolts.
  18.  
  19. Raise the door glass and hold it in position, using a suitable tool.
  20.  
  21. Remove the module assembly mounting bolts.
  22.  
  23. Draw out the locating pins on the upper part of the module assembly, from the door panel. Remove the module assembly by drawing it forward and moving it upward.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the harness connector from the module assembly and unclip the harness form the back of the module.
  26.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Reset the limit switch by raising the glass to the top position. While pressing and holding the reset switch, lower the glass to the bottom position. Release the reset switch. Verify that the reset switch returns to the original position. If not, pull the switch using the proper tool. Raise the glass to the top position.
    NOTE
    Do not operate the window automatically to raise the glass to the top position.

Sedan (Rear Door)

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. To remove the door panel, remove the trim plate inside handle portion and remove the screws.
  6.  
  7. Using a suitable tool, disconnect the pawls and remove the grip finisher.
  8.  
  9. Remove the screw of the door grip finisher.
  10.  
  11. Insert the suitable tool between the panel on the vehicle and the clips on the panel and remove it.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear door speaker.
  14.  
  15. Removing the sealing screen.
  16.  
  17. Operate the power window switch to raise/lower the window until the glass bolts are visible.
  18.  
  19. Raise the door glass and hold it in position, using a suitable tool.
  20.  
  21. Remove the bolts and the regulator assembly from the vehicle.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the harness connector from the regulator assembly.
  24.  
  25. Remove the power window motor from the regulator.
  26.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. To reset the limit switch, remove the window regulator assembly from the door panel by operating the power window switch until the window motor mounting screws can be seen.
  4.  
  5. Connect the window motor to the switch harness. Run the motor for more than five seconds in the upward direction, using the power window switch.
  6.  
  7. Assemble the window motor and regulator. Install it to the door.
  8.  
  9. Install the window glass to the regulator.
  10.  
  11. Use the manual UP position of the power window switch to run the regulator to the top of its travel to set the limit switch.
  12.  
  13. Use the manual DOWN position of the power window switch to run the regulator to the bottom of its travel.
    NOTE
    Do not use the window AUTO function.
