    Front exhaust tube

Halfshafts and support the engine with a suitable jack under the oil pan

    Rear and left engine mount

  6.
  7. Raise the jack and remove the lower transaxle housing bolts. Lower jack and remove the upper housing bolts. Keep the bolts in order as they are different lengths and must be returned to the same position.
  8.
  9. Lower the transaxle.
  10.

To install:

  1. Raise the transaxle into place and install the attaching bolts. Torque the shortest bolt to 22-30 ft. lbs. (30-40 Nm) and the remaining bolts to 51-59 ft. lbs. (70-79 Nm).
  2.
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Rear and left engine mounts

    Driveshafts

Shift control rods, support rod, bleeder air hose and starter

    Air bleeder hose

    Starter

    Speedometer sensor

Back-up light switch, neutral switch and ground harness connectors

Clutch operating cylinder. Torque the bolts to 22-27 ft. lbs. (29-37 Nm)

    Negative battery cable

  4.
  5. Fill the transaxle to the proper level.
  6.
  7. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.
  8.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.
  3. Drain the transaxle fluid.
  4.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Battery, battery bracket and tray

Air cleaner assembly with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor

Clutch operating cylinder; do not disconnect the hydraulic line from the cylinder

    Clutch hose clamp

Speedometer pinion and the neutral position switch connectors and the ground harness connectors

    Starter

Back-up lamp switch and the neutral position switch

Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (POS) from the transaxle front side

Shifter control rod and the support rod bracket from the transaxle

Both driveshafts from the transaxle assembly and support the transaxle

  6.
  7. Support the engine of the transaxle by placing a jack under the oil pan. Be sure to use a block of wood between the oil pan and jack.
    NOTE
The transaxle bolts are of different lengths, be sure to note the location of the bolts for reassembly.
