Brake Caliper

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake cable mounting bolt and lock spring.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the brake fluid hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the torque member mounting bolts and remove the caliper assembly.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Fit the caliper onto the torque member and torque the bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Using new copper washers, connect the hydraulic hose to the caliper. Torque the union bolt to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-19 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Connect the parking brake cable to the rear caliper.
  6.  
  7. Bleed the brake system.
  8.  
  9. Install the rear wheels.
  10.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the parking brake cable stay fixing bolt and the lock spring.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake fluid hose from the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the guide pin bolts and remove the caliper.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the caliper body into position and torque the caliper-to-torque member pin bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the brake fluid hose and tighten the flare nut to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the lock spring and the parking brake stay attaching bolt.
  6.  
  7. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  8.  
  9. Install the wheels.
  10.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the brake fluid hose.
  6.  
  7. Remove the torque member mounting bolts and remove the caliper assembly.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Fit the caliper over the rotor and install the mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 28-38 ft. lbs. (38-52 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Using new copper washers, connect the hydraulic hose to the caliper. Torque the union bolt to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-19 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Bleed the brake system.
  6.  
  7. Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle to the floor.

  1. Fit the caliper over the rotor and install the mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 25-30 ft. lbs. (33-42 Nm).

  3. Using new copper washers, connect the hydraulic hose to the caliper. Torque the union bolt to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-19 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Bleed the brake system.
  6.  
  7. Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle to the floor.
  8.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.

  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the brake cable mounting bolt and lock spring.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the brake fluid hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the torque member mounting bolts and remove the caliper assembly.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Fit the caliper onto the torque member and torque the bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).

To install:

  1. Fit the caliper onto the torque member and torque the bolts to 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm).

  5. Connect the parking brake cable to the rear caliper.

To install:

  1. Install the caliper body into position Refer to the accompanying illustrations for torque values and procedures.
  2.  
  3. Reconnect the brake fluid hose and tighten the flare nut to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-20 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the lock spring and the parking brake stay attaching bolt.
  6.  
  7. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  8.  
  9. Install the wheels.
  10.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  5. Disconnect the brake fluid hose.

To install:

  1. Fit the caliper over the rotor and install the mounting bolts. Refer to accompanying illustrations for torque values and procedures.
  2.  
  3. Using new copper washers, connect the hydraulic hose to the caliper. Torque the union bolt to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-19 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Bleed the brake system.
  6.  
  7. Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle to the floor.

  3. Using new copper washers, connect the hydraulic hose to the caliper. Torque the union bolt to 12-14 ft. lbs. (17-19 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Bleed the brake system.
  6.  
  7. Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle to the floor.

With Brembo® Option

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove brake pads (Refer to Disc Brake Pads, Removal and Installation).
  6.  
  7. Remove brake tube flare nut using a flare wrench.
  8.  
  9. Remove brake hose bolt and move brake hose aside.
  10.  
  11. Remove caliper bolt and remove caliper from vehicle.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Install brake tube to caliper assembly and partially tighten flare nut.
  2.  
  3. Install caliper assembly to vehicle and tighten bolt to 53-71 ft. lbs. (71.6-97 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Tighten flare nut to 11-12 ft. lbs. (14.8-17.6 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install brake hose bolt.
  8.  
  9. Install brake pad and shim (Refer to Disc Brake Pads, Removal and Installation).
  10.  
  11. Install the wheels and tighten the lug nuts to the proper specification.
  12.  
  13. Bleed the brake system and top off the master cylinder as necessary.
  14.  

With Standard Brakes
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rear wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the parking brake cable stay fixing bolt and the lock spring.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake fluid hose from the caliper.
  8.  
  9. Remove the guide pin bolts and remove the caliper.

To install:

  1. Install the caliper body into position Refer to the accompanying illustrations for torque values and procedures.
