Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
After any of the following conditions, check the adjustment of the steering angle sensor neutral position before driving the vehicle:
To adjust the neutral position of steering angle sensor, make sure to use the CONSULT-II. (Adjustment cannot be done without CONSULT-II.)
Replacing ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit)
Removing/installing steering angle sensor
Removing/installing steering components
Removing/installing suspension components
Adjusting wheel alignment
Stop the vehicle with the front wheels in the straight-ahead position.
Connect the CONSULT-II and CONSULT-II CONVERTER to the data link connector on the vehicle, and turn the ignition switch ON (do not start engine).
If the CONSULT-II is used with no connection of the CONSULT-II CONVERTER, malfunctions might be detected in self-diagnosis depending on the control unit which carry out CAN communication.
Touch ABS, WORK SUPPORT and ST ANGLE SENSOR ADJUSTMENT on the CONSULT-II screen in this order.
Do not touch the steering wheel while adjusting the steering angle sensor.
After approximately 10 seconds, touch END. (After approximately 60 seconds, it ends automatically.)
Turn the ignition switch OFF, then turn it ON again.
Be sure to carry out above operation.
Run the vehicle with the front wheels in the straight-ahead position, then stop.
Select DATA MONITOR, SELECTION FROM MENU, and STR ANGLE SIG on the CONSULT-II screen. Then make sure STR ANGLE SIG is within 0 ±3.5 deg. If the value is more than specified, repeat steps 3 to 7.
Erase memory of the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) and the ECM.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
