Bushing Replacement



The rear lower control arms (lower links) do not use bushings or ball joints. Replace the entire arm assembly if any damage is noticed, including cracks, dents or deformations.

Removal & Installation



Front Lower Link
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear tire.
  6.  
  7. Position a jack under the rear lower link for support.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front lower link protector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the shock absorber assembly from the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Remove the mounting nut and bolt between the front lower link and the axle.
  14.  
  15. Remove the mounting nut and bolt between the front lower link and the rear suspension member.
  16.  
  17. Remove the front lower link from the vehicle.
  18.  
  19. Check the front lower link and bushing for any deformation, cracks, or damage. Replace it if necessary.
  20.  

To install:

  1. Position the front lower link on the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the mounting nut and bolt between the front lower link and the rear suspension member to 74 ft. lbs. (101 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install and tighten the mounting nut and bolt between the front lower link and the axle to 77 ft. lbs. (105 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the shock absorber assembly.
  8.  
  9. Install the front lower link protector.
  10.  
  11. Slowly lower the jack from under the rear lower link.
  12.  
  13. Install the rear tire.
    CAUTION
    Perform final tightening of the rear suspension member and axle installation position (rubber bushing) under unladen conditions with the tires on level ground.

  15. Check the wheel alignment.
  16.  
  17. After adjusting wheel alignment, adjust the neutral position of the steering angle sensor.
  18.  

Rear Lower Link
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear tire.
  6.  
  7. Position a jack under the rear lower link for support.
  8.  
  9. Loosen the fixing bolt and nut of the rear lower link in the side of the suspension member, and then remove the fixing bolt and nut in the side of the axle.
  10.  
  11. Slowly lower the jack, then remove the upper seat, coil spring and rubber sheet from the rear lower link.
  12.  
  13. Remove the fixing bolt and nut in the side of the rear suspension member to remove the rear lower link.
  14.  
  15. Check rear the lower link, bushing and coil spring for deformation, cracks, and damage. Replace the rear lower link and coil spring, if necessary.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Position the rear lower link on the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install and tighten the fixing bolt and nut in the side of the rear suspension member to 48 ft. lbs. (65 Nm).
    NOTE
    Check that the upper seat is attached as shown. Insert the bracket into the upper seat with the setting three tabs of the upper seat to the projecting part of the bracket beforehand as shown.

  5. Position the upper seat, coil spring and rubber sheet in place, and then slowly raise the jack under the rear lower link.
    NOTE
    Match up the rubber seat indentions and rear lower link grooves. Also, make sure spring is not upside down. The top and bottom are indicated by paint color.

  7. Install and tighten the fixing bolt and nut in the side of the axle to 77 ft. lbs. (105 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Slowly lower the jack from under the rear lower link.
  10.  
  11. Install the rear tire.
    CAUTION
    Perform final tightening of the rear suspension member and axle installation position (rubber bushing) under unladen conditions with the tires on level ground.

  13. Check the wheel alignment.
  14.  
  15. After adjusting wheel alignment, adjust the neutral position of the steering angle sensor.
