  2.
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.
  5. Remove the rear wheel.
  6.
  7. Remove the brake caliper. Hang it in a place where it will not interfere with work.
    NOTE
Avoid depressing brake pedal while brake caliper is removed.

  8.
  9. Remove the disc rotor.
  10.
  11. Remove the wheel sensor from the axle.
    CAUTION
Do not pull on the wheel sensor wiring harness.

  12.
  13. Remove the cotter pin, then remove the lock nut from the halfshaft.
  14.
  15. Separate the halfshaft from the wheel hub and bearing assembly by lightly tapping the end with a suitable hammer and block of wood. If it is hard to separate, use a suitable puller.
  16.
  17. Remove the mounting bolts of the wheel hub/bearing assembly, then remove the wheel hub/bearing assembly from the axle.
  18.
  19. Remove the parking brake cable and parking brake shoe from the brake backing plate.
  20.
  21. Remove the mounting nuts of the anchor block, then remove the anchor block and backing plate from the axle.
  22.
  23. Loosen mounting bolts and nuts of the front lower link, radius rod, and rear lower link on the side of the suspension member.
  24.
  25. Set a jack under the rear lower link, then remove the mounting bolt in the front lower link side of the shock absorber.
  26.
  27. Remove the bolt and nut in the axle side of the rear lower link, then remove the coil spring.
  28.
  29. Remove the mounting bolts and nuts in the axle side of the front lower link and radius rod.
  30.
  31. Remove the suspension arm and cotter pin at the axle, then loosen the mounting nut.
  32.
  33. Use a ball joint remover (or equivalent) to remove the suspension arm from the axle. Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot.
    CAUTION
Temporarily tighten the mounting nut to prevent damage to the threads and to prevent the ball joint remover from coming off.

  34.
  35. Remove the axle from the vehicle.
  36.
  37. Inspect the Ball Joint for boot breakage, axial looseness, and torque of suspension arm ball joint. Maximum of allowable axial end play is 0.00 in. (0.0mm).
  38.
