Removal & Installation



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disable the SIR system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 screws that retain the insulator panel to the instrument panel (I/P).
  6.  
  7. Release the insulator panel retaining clip from the I/P substrate.
  8.  
  9. Lower the insulator panel.

  11. Remove the 2 data link connector (DLC) retaining screws.
  12.  
  13. Remove the DLC from the insulator panel.
  14.  
  15. Remove the splice pack from the insulator panel.
  16.  
  17. Remove the hazard and turn signal flasher from the insulator panel.
  18.  
  19. Remove the insulator panel from the I/P.

  21. Remove the knee bolster trim panel.
  22.  
  23. Remove the knee bolster.
  24.  
  25. Remove the left HVAC push pin (2).
  26.  
  27. Remove the left HVAC floor duct (1).

  29. Fully lower the steering column.

  31. Remove the center console.

  35. Remove the 2 screws that retain the insulator panel to the instrument panel (I/P).

  37. Partially remove the insulator panel.
  38.  
  39. Remove the electrical connector retaining clip from the back side of the insulator panel, if equipped.

  41. Remove the right closeout/insulator panel from vehicle

  43. Remove the I/P storage compartment door.

  45. Remove the radio.
  46.  
  47. Remove the HVAC control module.
  48.  
  49. Remove the HVAC control module wire harness attachment (1) from the I/P substrate.
  50.  
  51. Remove the left I/P access cover.
  52.  
  53. Remove the headlamp switch.
  54.  
  55. Remove the windshield garnish moldings.
  56.  
  57. Remove the trim pad.

  59. Remove the front upper speakers, if equipped.

  61. Remove the right I/P access cover.

  63.  Remove the side window defogger outlet screw.

  65. Remove the bolts securing the lower portion of the instrument panel to the vehicle.

  67. Remove the bolts that secure the middle and upper portion of the instrument panel to the vehicle.

  69. With the aid of an assistant, lift up from the bottom of the instrument panel in order to release the I/P from the positioning locators.
  70.  
  71. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
  72.  
  73. Place the I/P on a clean prepared surface.
  74.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
