REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support vehicle safely.
  4.  
  5. Remove wheel assembly. Remove inner fender liner.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect speed sensor wire connector.
  8.  
  9. Remove sensor cable attaching bolts and screws.
  10.  
  11. Remove sensor attaching bolts. Remove sensor.
  12.  
  13. Inspect the speed sensor for damage.
  14.  
    1. Check speed sensor pole piece for dirt and remove.
    2.  
    3. Check the pole piece for damage and replace if necessary.
    4.  
    5. Check for continuity while flexing the sensor cable. Replace sensor cable if short or open is found.
    6.  
    7. Check the sensor rotor for damage including tooth chipping. Replace the drive shaft assembly if sensor rotor is damaged.
    8.  

  15. Install the speed sensor taking care not to damage the pole piece. Tighten the attaching bolt to 62 inch lbs.
  16.  
  17. Check the clearance between the speed sensor pole piece and the rotor. Clearance should be 0.20 and 190.80mm (0.0079 and 190.0315in.).
  18.  
  19. Install the sensor cable fixing bolt (tighten to 13 ft. lbs.) and screw (tighten to 9 ft. lbs.).
  20.  
  21. Ensure the white line marked on the cable is not twisted. If so, loosen connections and straighten cable.
  22.  
  23. Reconnect sensor wire connector, install inner liner, install wheel, lower vehicle and reconnect negative battery cable.
