Brake Rotor

Two different styles of rotor are used on Isuzu vehicles. The first type is held to the wheel hub assembly by the wheel nuts. Most rear and some front disc brake rotors are of this type.

The second type utilizes a combined rotor/hub assembly. The dust cap, spindle nut and outer wheel bearing must be removed prior to removing the rotor/hub assembly.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Type One
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the caliper and the caliper bracket.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake rotor.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Type Two
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the front wheel and tire assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the caliper and the caliper bracket.
  6.  
  7. Remove the dust cap and cotter pin. Remove the castle nut, washer and the outer wheel bearing.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rotor/hub assembly with the inner wheel bearing.
  10.  
  11. If the rotor is machined while removed, the wheel bearings must be removed and the hub thoroughly cleaned before installation.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Properly adjust the wheel bearings and install a new cotter pin.
