REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
RWD I-Mark and Impulse
  1. Raise the rear of the car on the axle housing and support it at the jack side brackets with jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Position a hydraulic jack under the differential housing, but use a light contact pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the shock absorber lower mounting bolts.
  6.  
  7. Slowly lower or separate the axle assembly from the car body to the point where the spring becomes loose enough to allow removal.
  8.  


CAUTION
Do not stress the brake hoses when lowering the axle.

To install:

  1. Position the spring correctly. Make sure that the insulator is in position on top of the spring.
  2.  
  3. Torque the shock absorber lower bolts to 29 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  4.  

FWD I-Mark
  1. Raise the rear of the car on the axle housing and support it at the jack side brackets with jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Position a hydraulic jack under the differential rear axle, but use a light contact pressure.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the shock absorber lower mounting bolts and stabilizer bar.
  6.  
  7. Slowly lower or separate the axle assembly from the car body to the point where the spring becomes loose enough to allow removal.
  8.  


CAUTION
Do not stress the brake hoses when lowering the axle!

To install:
